Clinton spokesman says tweet was '100% humor'

(CNN) - It was just a joke.

That's what Hillary Clinton's spokesman tells CNN about a tweet from the former Secretary of State that's been re-tweeted more than 53,000 times as of Monday morning.

"It’s so much more fun to watch FOX when it’s someone else being blitzed & sacked! #SuperBowl," Clinton tweeted Sunday evening during FOX's coverage of the Super Bowl.

The tweet from the likely 2016 Democratic presidential contender came just a few hours after President Barack Obama and Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly battled in a contentious interview on the FOX broadcast network's pre-Super Bowl show over many issues, including the September 2012 killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans in an attack in Benghazi, Libya.

Obama defends against GOP criticism in testy interview

Many Republicans, including some conservative commentators on Fox News,  have criticized Clinton heavily over the attack and its aftermath, which came during her watch as secretary of state.

But Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill told CNN that the tweet was "100% humor."

Oh you mean the video of apology to Pakistan over a video that did nothing to start the Benghazi attack??? Do we really need another liar in chief?

Clinton and Obama just can't wrap their heads around their own disgraceful misdeeds. Have to blame Fox? Not only have they negatively affected the country with their policies and behavior, and broken many laws and defied the Constitution, they're acting like children. This is not only embarrassing, it's disturbing.

Someone tried to tell me that Fox has an unbiased lineup of evening "news" shows after 5pm. Let's look at the lineup. We have "The Five", a round table discussion of political opinions. Next comes Brett, who mostly reports every sound bite by a conservative, but never a liberal. He also conducts his own round table. Follow that comes Greta who has a round table discussion of political issues. The lineup concludes with O'Reilly, Kelly, and Hannity, which need no introduction.

Of course it was only humor however the GOP doesn't understand humor unless it's degrading the POTUS or Hillary.

If Hillary is any thing like husband Bill, as far as leadership and governing, she will make a great President. As part of some one else cabinet, one has to follow what that administration wants and strongly believes in. I strongly believe that she did as told, that is why many who were in this administration left before or shortly after 2012 elections.

It was not humor.......it was gloating, that Obama could control the entire interview process to make himself look good, while lying to the public. It was pure propaganda.

We all are aware, Obama's WH handlers, controlled the questions, and the interview, and only approved questions were allowed, by O'Reilly. It was nothing but the usual Obama political theater, without a shred of truth.

Not nearly as humorous as CNN trying to capitalize on a feigned controversy.

So Fox didn't get the humor in that tweet – there really are a lot of dense people on that station. Yes – this is probably as bad as using the Port Authority to close traffic lanes on a whim and using reward and punishment in the distribution of Sandy money. Don't they ever just get tired of being so stupid?

"Old Gunderson see you watch Fox. Good information, no?"

Captain Babytalk hasn't seen the studies showing that Faux News viewers score lower on tests about current issues than do people who report that they WATCH NO NEWS.

"So Fox didn't get the humor in that tweet"

Nah, they got it. Their entire shtick is to feign outrage at EVERYTHING, not matter how trifling or benign.

I realize that there is more than one opinion on any topic. Unfortunately, Fox News only presents one opinion, one which they pass off as news. Brett Baier's broadcast is one the phoniest newscasts on the history of broadcast news. I have never in my life recollect there ever being a "news show" that regularly conducts round table discussions with political strategists. Never.

Gunny – there is more than one opinion out their, the lies and fake conspiracies from Fox, and the truth from most other media. Nice baby talk, though.

Generally, it seems high time to call FOX out for what it is- it is a simple propaganda machine (or a version of supermarket tabloids for TV- for Rupert Murdoch and his mini-me, Roger Ailes), manufacturing fake stories, and formenting dissent and anger. I think if all politicians and celebreties treated FOX as the junk outlet it is, it's dalys peddling "news" would fold quickly.

Nothing this unindicted co conspirator and her convicted, corrupt husband do is humorous. She just had to attack the only media outlet that does not have it's tonged in her ear.
