Clinton spokesman says tweet was '100% humor'

(CNN) - It was just a joke.

That's what Hillary Clinton's spokesman tells CNN about a tweet from the former Secretary of State that's been re-tweeted more than 53,000 times as of Monday morning.

"It’s so much more fun to watch FOX when it’s someone else being blitzed & sacked! #SuperBowl," Clinton tweeted Sunday evening during FOX's coverage of the Super Bowl.

The tweet from the likely 2016 Democratic presidential contender came just a few hours after President Barack Obama and Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly battled in a contentious interview on the FOX broadcast network's pre-Super Bowl show over many issues, including the September 2012 killing of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans in an attack in Benghazi, Libya.

Obama defends against GOP criticism in testy interview

Many Republicans, including some conservative commentators on Fox News,  have criticized Clinton heavily over the attack and its aftermath, which came during her watch as secretary of state.

But Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill told CNN that the tweet was "100% humor."

Sniffit. While you're gloating about FOX NEWS watchers scoring lower on current issues, consider this. We don't care whether Justin Beiber is getting deported or how LiLo is doing with her rehab.

Well I guess her humor is the same as her approach to heading up the State Department. WEAK!!

The most humorous politicians that I've seen over the last couple of years have all been Republicans. Perry, Cain, and, of course, Mitt Romney and his goose sauces.

Perhaps I should have been more specific, but the tests were not about entertainment fluff and such. They were designed to measure which networks' viewers were more informed about political and policy issues and the goings-on in DC, current bills, congressional procedures, actual information about policy issues, etc. To be fair, it's correlational...you can't say whether one is the cause of the other...but the fact remained that Faux news viewers were less informed than people not watching. Perhaps Faux is doing a bang up job and their target market is just too dumb to learn all the good info Faux is providing...or perhaps Faux is just full of crap 24-7-365. Chicken and the egg.

As for gloating...not really. It's a problem that I'd rather be solved than continue.

Here come all the Fox haters..lol..If you don`t like what they say don`t watch it. Sounds like liberals on here want only side to the story, their side. If you want to see liberal news watch msnbc. All three report the same stories they just have people with different opinions on their networks.

What makes you think people "hate" Fox? Are you projecting yourself onto others again?

The crime against the public that FNC commits is passing off opinions as if they were actual news. Other networks make no pretense about mixing opinionated discussions and actual, unbiased news reports. Just look at the history of the network. It was launched a month before the 1996 General Election. People quickly realized that it was a 24/7 medium for conservatives to put out anti-Bill Clilnton advertising for very low costs. Liberals couldn't get any air time on Fox.

Well, Gundy, you're right here- there is an alternative look to many things, and yes, people ought to seek those out. FOX gives us the Martian viewpoint. Different? Definitely. Valuable? not at all.

Yes but unfortunatly the people hollaring and pointing to information on Fox news already no it is trumped up garbage. They arnt pointing to it as reference because they believe it, they do it because people like gunderson believe it, and they can leverage it. Politicians in this country, especially republican politicians do not care about doing good for the country, or what is truth, they only care about getting re-elected and hitting the big pay day by ruling in favor of coporate special interests. Fox news is just about the best at saying whatever makes people angry and easy to control with very little effort by politicians.

Good information? Sure, but only if it affirms your existing opinions. FOX has never been interested in the truth, only the point of view of Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch. Being short on facts and long on rhetoric does not make for an informed audience. As for the Goebbels reference, please ask how much time was actually devoted to covering Christie's and McDonnel's problems, vs the sad attempts to keep the outrage alive on scandals that yet have to produce any real evidence. Anyone who is not imbibing the FOXbot drugs can see that either Issa is imcompetant, or there is nothing there. Take your pick. Anyway, what Hillary said was amusing: is the Right so humorless that they cannot see the humor in her comment? I guess not.

Exactly! This is an age-old problem for researchers- the ability to determine which sources contain verifiable information and those that don't. FOX is simply like the junk news resuslt that come up in Internet searches. I would stretch the thesis a little further-
People who use FOX as a source of "news" and believe it are no different from people (of my generation) who could not determine what was real- whetehr it was printed in the NYT or the Daily News or the Star because "they couldn't print it if it wasn't true". The first go-round of the Internet produced (and continues to produce) so many bunk student research papers because they can'tfdifferentiate between real resources and "Joe Bob's frothing red state news". Fox is the junk station on TV. Sure, one can say MSNBC has a skew (and it does), and that one would be imperiled by using just them for their only news, but even compared to MSNBC (who broke the GW Bridge scandal on TV), FOX is fantasyland. People who believe FOX are intellectually lazy. Plain and simple.

FNC is a two sided coin. One side is no news, while the other side is not news. For example, when the story about the emails behind the GWB scandal first broke, FNC devoted a total of only 14 minutes of air time to the story during the first 24 hours after it hit other media outlets, which is just barely 30 seconds per hour. Meanwhile, at least 30 minutes, on average, out of every hour was dedicated to the various "Obama scandals".

    – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked about ascertaining whether the Benghazi terror attack was the result of a protest by Senator Ron Johnson.
"What difference, at this point, does it make?" Clinton responded. (Jan 23, 2013)

Just wait till after the November 2014 Democrat Purge, then you can REALLY stab Barack in the back.
Bill already got his dagger in by calling Barack out on his, "You can keep your policy. Period." promise.

I guess that explains why Fox only broadcast about 14 minutes news about the "Got it." emails during the first 24 hours after the story broke. I guess that explains why Fox commentators were so quick to give Christie credit for taking "personal responsiblity" for the lane closures, when in fact he did no such thing. Christie couldn't take "personal responsibility" for the lane closures because doing so would the a tacit adminission of his guilt.

@smith – Fox has talking points you don`t like to here. So you cry lies, prooganda, and fake news. MSNBC is same as FOX just a different slant.
    -------------------------
True.. but... the HUGE difference is that MSNBC isn't piped into EVERY public venue in EVERY red state (MSNBC didn't spend Ruperts millions corralling all sports broadcasting so they have a ready-made audience) and doesn't even begin to pass itself off as "fair and balanced", then claim it has the largest viewership of all news outlets. As someone who lives in a red state, watching what FBC passes as news is utterly obscene... it's nothing more than thinly disguised rw propaganda. At least MSNBC doesn't try to hide their perspective.
