Obama: ‘Of course’ Fox News is unfair

(CNN) - Fox News Channel, the cable giant whose conservative primetime hosts regularly go after President Barack Obama, is “of course” unfair in its attacks, Obama argued in an interview aired on the network Monday.

The sit-down, conducted by Bill O’Reilly, was taped after a live grilling Sunday night in which O’Reilly quizzed the president on health care, the IRS scandal over the targeting of political action groups and the attack at a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya – all issues conservatives argue were Obama’s fault.

Asked if he was unfair to Obama, the president responded to O'Reilly: "Of course you are, Bill. But I like you anyway.”

“This list of issues you asked about – they’re defined by you guys in a certain way,” Obama continued. “But this is OK. If you want to be president of the United States, then you know you’re going to be subject to criticism,” Obama said, adding he thought the conservative bent has “made Fox News very successful.”

“Here’s what you guys are going to have to figure out: What are you going to do when I’m gone?” Obama asked.

Later, asked if he was the “most liberal president in history,” Obama suggested that Republican President Richard Nixon’s policies could be seen as further to the left.

“When you look at some of my policies, in a lot of ways Richard Nixon was more liberal than I was,” he said, citing the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency during Nixon’s presidency.

Nothing like trying to silence those that don't think like you and won't rubberstamp everything you say. But hey, at least if I like my plan I can keep it. Or maybe not

Obviously Obama is deflecting. He must be ignorant of the way O'Reily assessed Bush. What's most interesting is that one of the most maligned conservative commentators in the country criticized Bush consistently. Glenn Beck criticized him daily as did O'Reilly.

[Chortle] The entire rest of the national news media (minus a few radio outlets) are totally in the tank for Obama, and so he's going to whine about the ONE that is not 100% on his side? Please....

Bill O'Reilly soft-pedaled during the interview with Hussein Obama, no sign of the supposed meeting between (his words) "two alpha males." If those two are "alpha males" then our species is on the edge of extinction. Obama danced around the questions, never gave a straight answer and O'Reilly allowed him to do so. Is there NO ONE able to remind this sorry excuse for a President and the inept, unproductive Legislative branch that THEY WORK FOR US, not the other way around? Hopefully the march on Washington on May 16 will remind the three branches of government that they work for us – unless they pull the tyranny card and declare martial law.

The Prez nailed this one. Nixon also went to China. Just imagine the screeching if Obama did that.

It's been proven time and again that Fox is biased and rarely if ever use basic journalistic research of wide, varied, multiple points of view primary sources. They lean heavily to the reactionary right. MSNBC leans far left. CNN generally leans more right than left. If you are looking for the middle ground or truth then you must research yourself and realize that media today is not balanced, fair, or truthful. Media are corporations looking to make profit.

You got us. We're changing our motto to "All the News that's fit to Invent." It's just easier to create fiction than to actually investigate facts. Fortunately, our party is largely uneducated, so nobody notices!

What a big baby. Get over it. Fox is no worse then MSNBC is to the GOP. As a matter of fact, at least FOX reports some actual news after 5pm, unlike MSNBC.

So much gold in this interview.

Comparing himself to Nixon was my favorite part, essentially linking the most recent two presidents who without question deserve(d) to be served with the articles of impeachment and removed from office.

For having the "Most transparent administration in history," sure are a lot of "made-up" scandals to deal with.

President made an error right off the bat, when he accused Fox of being a News Organization. They are the furthest thing for a News Organization. Bill O'Really is also the head of those talking heads, that live on sound bytes alone. The whole mess, is nothing but Far Reich propaganda machine, that is about to break down.

I don't think that Fox is as "fair and balanced" as any other news network. Even MSNBC isn't as far to the left as Fox is to the right. It comes from the boss who doesn't understand that news shouldn't have that much of a slant.

Apparently it is unfair to question the President. It is unfair to ask a question regarding the IRS, which is under investigation by the DOJ. It is unfair to ask a question regarding accountability in the President's administration. Apparently, the only way to be perceived as fair is to stop asking questions. I find this to be an odd position for anyone to take. The only way we learn, grow, and improve is through debate, and asking questions. This country was founded on the principle of questioning your government.
