Obama: ‘Of course’ Fox News is unfair

(CNN) - Fox News Channel, the cable giant whose conservative primetime hosts regularly go after President Barack Obama, is “of course” unfair in its attacks, Obama argued in an interview aired on the network Monday.

The sit-down, conducted by Bill O’Reilly, was taped after a live grilling Sunday night in which O’Reilly quizzed the president on health care, the IRS scandal over the targeting of political action groups and the attack at a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya – all issues conservatives argue were Obama’s fault.

Asked if he was unfair to Obama, the president responded to O'Reilly: "Of course you are, Bill. But I like you anyway.”

“This list of issues you asked about – they’re defined by you guys in a certain way,” Obama continued. “But this is OK. If you want to be president of the United States, then you know you’re going to be subject to criticism,” Obama said, adding he thought the conservative bent has “made Fox News very successful.”

“Here’s what you guys are going to have to figure out: What are you going to do when I’m gone?” Obama asked.

Later, asked if he was the “most liberal president in history,” Obama suggested that Republican President Richard Nixon’s policies could be seen as further to the left.

“When you look at some of my policies, in a lot of ways Richard Nixon was more liberal than I was,” he said, citing the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency during Nixon’s presidency.

Now that's funny. Fox was the only media that would call Obama out when the others refused to.

Only a fool goes on Fox News, especially with O'Reilly, and not expect difficult and at times combative questioning. Oops forgot who we were talking about.

Fox News simply tells their viewers what they want to hear.

If you're an Obama-hater, you can get all the Obama-hating you want from Hannity and others on the station. This is the same station that for months told its viewers Mitt Romney was going to win by a landslide and he lost by triple digits and lost 9 out of 10 swing states. It's called telling your viewers what they want to hear so that they will keep tuning in and you get rich.

I think Obama was correct in not addressing Bill's "concerns" as if they were legitimate issues.

And conservatives: Nobody cares about Benghazi. Look at Hillary's poll number against every Republican.

The only thing unfair here is CNN will find a place to put a story of carefully plucked quotes to spark the Liberal base but fails to mention the President's reluctance to answer valid and direct questions concerning Benghazi or the IRS during the O'Reilly interview..

    FAIL CNN!!!

To be fair, all media outlets are fairly unfair. They're just unfair on different sides.

The EPA was essential as an agency that assures that businesses, groups, and individuals let the people be.

What the President has done with the EPA is politicize it to go after any who do not yield to the political elite in power.

The EPA is an agency that is part of the Executive Branch. A Branch that is supposed to be impartial and 'execute' the Laws and Regulations without bias.

"Of course...of course...of course..." what else has the President be saying but "of course" to everything!

The fact that Fox's O'Reilly et al think of Obama as being left wing or liberal just shows how truly blind their biases can make them.

Wouldn't it have been nice if someone then asked Obama if he thought CBS News was unfair, then watched him dance trying to avoid claiming they were liberal?

I disagree about the creation of the EPA. Stewardship of the environment is not a liberal cause, it is a cause outside of politics in my opinion, but if I were to peg it towards either of the two, I would peg it as a conservative policy. The problem is that conservatism has been taken over by corporate business, and the useful idiots on talk radio and Fox News insure that the supports of modern conservatism are in lock step with what big business wants.

The media has this liberal-conservative thing going with FOX being the conservative side and MSNBC being the liberal side.

The President is simply stating the obvious.

The illusion of media impartiality has been smashed to bits since the Bush Jr. presidency ended.

  23. How does this work?

I do like how CNN's journalists write the story in such a way as to ignore a very key part of that exchange. Bill followed up the President's assertion with a simple question: "How am I unfair?" He asked it honestly and was genuinely interested to hear what specifically led the President to his accusation.

He had no answer. No evidence. No anecdote. No logic, no reasoning, no nothing. He couldn't answer what specifically Fox and O'Reilly had done to him that was unfair or biased. That's a very key point from a guy who lobs these sort of attacks all the time but when challenged can't defend them.
