Obama: ‘Of course’ Fox News is unfair

(CNN) – Fox News Channel, the cable giant whose conservative primetime hosts regularly go after President Barack Obama, is “of course” unfair in its attacks, Obama argued in an interview aired on the network Monday.

The sit-down, conducted by Bill O’Reilly, was taped after a live grilling Sunday night in which O’Reilly quizzed the president on health care, the IRS scandal over the targeting of political action groups and the attack at a U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya – all issues conservatives argue were Obama’s fault.

Asked if he was unfair to Obama, the president responded to O'Reilly: "Of course you are, Bill. But I like you anyway.”

“This list of issues you asked about – they’re defined by you guys in a certain way,” Obama continued. “But this is OK. If you want to be president of the United States, then you know you’re going to be subject to criticism,” Obama said, adding he thought the conservative bent has “made Fox News very successful.”

“Here’s what you guys are going to have to figure out: What are you going to do when I’m gone?” Obama asked.

Later, asked if he was the “most liberal president in history,” Obama suggested that Republican President Richard Nixon’s policies could be seen as further to the left.

“When you look at some of my policies, in a lot of ways Richard Nixon was more liberal than I was,” he said, citing the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency during Nixon’s presidency.

Anyone earning less than $250,000/year that believes what the far right says isn't listening very well. The far right only cares about the super rich and big businesses....especially if they can ship our jobs overseas. It boggles my mind how anyone can actually believe what they say.....they haven't done anything for the bottom 47% of this country in ages. The trickle down theory only trickled UP.

President Obama was very fair giving the pompous Bill O’Reilly a chance to take his best shots. O'Reilly did not impress me.

This says more about the bias in the Manhattan media, than it does about Fox News. Pres. Obama acknowledgement that that he sees Fox as unfair should embarrass other news outlets who are not asking the tough questions. Pres. Obama indicted the main stream media, without even knowing he did it.

Obama is very similar to Richard Nixon, he blames the press for his problems instead of his own inept leadership. Think of the statement from Obama "What are you going to do when I am gone" I remember Nixon saying to the press, "your are not going to have Richard Nixon the kick around anymore". Check it out.

Every president has critics, Obama just cannot handle the criticism and gets very defensive and Nixon like.

In another area, he is just like J. Edgar Hoover and Nixon. He is using the government to spy on Americans and threaten Americans. When liberal activists broke into the FBI headquarters in 1971 and found all this improper conduct by Hoover, the liberals cheered, but now that Snowden has revealed that Obama's NSA spying is worse than what Hoover did, he cannot handle the exposure of his spying and the liberals are worried it could bring down the democrats.

I am surprised faux news and its "fair and balanced" lemmings don't blame the President for the weather.
I think our President gave as well as he took during that "interview". oreilly thought he was going to come out the winner but he was deballed a few times by the President.

Finally, Foxnews has caught Obama in a real lie. When he says they are "unfair" the truth is they actually misrepresent facts, lie, and invent ways to attack the President. That isn't called "unfair", its called "crooked" with a fair amount of bigotry thrown in to pander to the hate, stupidity, and ignorance of the right-wing for the sake of profits. They are nothing more then the propaganda machine for the lunatic fringe of Americans.

In so doing they have stolen from the American people the opportunity to solve its most pressing problems and truly be one nation united. Foxnews might very well be the greatest single threat to democracy we now face. They are the Joseph Goebbels of today.

And that Mr.President is the truth instead of your lie that they are just "unfair".

"“Here’s what you guys are going to have to figure out: What are you going to do when I’m gone?” Obama asked."

That's a stupid question to try to get a laugh. All Fox News has to do is ask Jon Stewart what he did once Bush was gone. The one thing that will get one rich persona to cooperate with another is when the bottom line involves money. Jon Stewart is unfair to Republicans, and Fox is unfair to Democrats. When they work together, they all make a lot of money. And yet people still follow them as if they report the real news.

The reason that Obama thinks that Fox News is unfair is because it's the only news agency to ask appropriate questions and to ask for accountability. The others have been giving him a pass for 5 years. When he gets a question tougher than "Do you like the green one or the yellow one better ?" he thinks it's unfair.

President Obama is correct. The record shows that President Nixon wanted a TOTAL ban on handguns, and indicated to congress that he would sign such a bill should it cross his desk. However, even 40 years ago, congress didn't have the balls to stand up to the NRA.
