Washington (CNN) - It may be the most overlooked mega-bill of the past 12 months.

The nearly $1 trillion farm bill received final approval on Tuesday from the Senate, which sent the compromise already passed by the House to President Barack Obama to be signed into law.

Washington (CNN) – The already-crowded race to unseat South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham is about to get another candidate.

Det Bowers, a well-connected Columbia pastor known for his oratory, put weeks of rumors to rest on Monday and said he is joining the five-person Republican Senate primary field.

Clinton lauds New York City's early childhood education efforts

Washington (CNN) – Hillary Clinton gave a full-throated endorsement of early childhood education on Tuesday, including crediting New York Mayor Bill De Blasio – a Clinton confidant – for his efforts to make universal pre-kindergarten the law in America's biggest city.

The former Secretary of State's remarks came as part of an event that brought Too Small to Fail, a childhood development project Clinton launched last year, into a partnership with Univision, the Spanish speaking television network.

Jeb Bush makes endorsement in Florida special election

(CNN) - Fresh after the first debate for the March 11 special congressional race in Florida, two Republican groups announced large ad buys backing the GOP nominee, David Jolly.

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush endorsed the Republican in a 30-second spot released Tuesday by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Sandra Fluke asks for California Democratic Party endorsement

Washington (CNN) - Sandra Fluke has asked the California Democratic Party for their endorsement in the race for an open 2014 congressional seat, but a spokeswoman for the women's rights activist says Fluke is still on the fence about a bid.

"It is not the same as filing to run or declaring that she is running," said Abigail Gardner, Fluke's spokeswoman, in an email. "It was something she felt she had to do on Friday to keep her options open due to CA Dem Party deadlines."

12-term Democratic congressman stepping down this month

Washington (CNN) - Longtime Democratic Rep. Rob Andrews announced Tuesday that he's stepping down from Congress later this month.

The congressman from southern New Jersey is leaving Capitol Hill to pursue a position with a leading law firm in Philadelphia.

(CNN) - New York City's new mayor has shoveled snow in Brooklyn and disrupted the city's pizza traditions. But Monday night Bill de Blasio marked another important milestone by appearing on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

The Democratic mayor stopped by Jon Stewart's set for a mostly lighthearted discussion, but the two also covered controversial issues from the mayoral campaign, from horse-drawn carriages to stop-and-frisk.

Obama and Biden to address House Democratic retreat

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will separately address the House Democratic retreat next week in Cambridge, Maryland, a White House official confirms to CNN.  Biden will speak on Thursday and Obama will speak on Friday.

The retreat follows Tuesday's meeting at the White House with the House Democratic Caucus.  On Wednesday, the President and former President Bill Clinton will headline a Senate Democratic retreat at Nationals Park.

Obama says digital learning push will help U.S. catch up

Adelphi, Maryland (CNN) - Nine-figure commitments from America’s leading technology and telecommunications firms will help U.S. students compete with their counterparts in nations with more technologically advanced schools, President Barack Obama said on Tuesday.

The commitments from Verizon, Sprint and other major companies come in the form of services and devices, including $100 million worth of iPads and laptop computers from Apple Inc., the California-based tech giant.
