Dallas, Texas (CNN) – Texas is a vast and diverse state with sprawling urban centers and wide open pastures, but sometimes the political universe here can feel pretty small.

Report: Fort Lee mayor says Christie appointees may have courted him

(CNN) - Snow plows, pot hole repairs, shuttle buses and emergency radios - all provided to the town of Fort Lee over time in what the mayor now believes may have been an attempt by Christie appointees to win his endorsement for the New Jersey governor's reelection.

And when the backing didn't materialize last year, Mark Sokolich believes key state officials may have in response orchestrated traffic jams over several days in his community by closing access lanes to the George Washington Bridge.

Democrats staying close on Christie's heels as he travels

(CNN) - Democrats will again be ready and waiting next week to make noise when embattled New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie hits the road for another high-profile trip.

The Democratic National Committee says it will send former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland to hold a news conference in Chicago on Tuesday, the same day Christie will be in the Windy City fundraising as chairman for the Republican Governors Association.

That's the headline from a new national poll that comes as Republicans push back against Democratic claims the GOP is out of touch on female issues and is waging a war on women.

Lew: Debt ceiling must be raised by Feb. 27

New York (CNNMoney) - Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told Congressional leaders Friday in essence that the full faith and credit of the United States could be in jeopardy after Feb. 27 if lawmakers don't raise the debt ceiling.

That's when Lew now estimates Treasury will run out of special accounting maneuvers to ensure all the country's bills are paid in full and on time.

All clear at White House after man tries to jump fence

Washington (CNN) – A man tried to jump the White House fence on Friday, causing a brief lockdown while he was apprehended, law enforcement officials said.

Police declared the incident over after checking a briefcase and taking the man into custody. He was not identified.

Parsing Biden's words: If Hillary runs, he won't
