Holder expands federal recognition of same-sex marriage

Washington (CNN) - Attorney General Eric Holder says he is set to extend the federal government's recognition of same-sex marriages even in the 34 states that don't consider it legal.

CNN has obtained excerpts of a speech Holder will deliver at the Human Rights Campaign's New York City gala event Saturday night.

Holder plans to announce that the Justice Department will issue a memo Monday that recognizes same-sex marriages "to the greatest extent possible under the law."

@bill, I bet you have a big gun under your pillow at night.
That being said, the Feds are going to have to step up against the Koch brothers at a state level because that is where they are now spending their money. This means voting rights, women's rights, gay rights, seniors rights and even veteran rights!
I hope we all learn from the little town of Coraville, IA, with a population of 20,000 where they miserably failed!

Lenny Curry, head of the Florida TeaPublican Party had an op-ed in the New-Press today, blasting our new governor, Charlie Crist, as he is coming to Fort Myers for his book signing. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the republicans could have an accomplishment to run on instead of attack ads. If they could do even one thing that helped Floridians or Americans, their popularity could skyrocket to double digits.

I personally have no problems with gay marriage and I hope every state passes it into law. I don't like the idea of several people dictating it though. For those of you who cheer Holder, how would you feel if something similar is done on an issue which you are not in favor of. Can't any of you see that if this becomes normal practice, we all will sooner or later regret its consequences?

Holder, as the Attorney General, is following the Supreme Court ruling. He is not 'making his own rules'. Haters need to get over it.

    This feckless Administration, which promised
"transparency", always seems to act "progressively" on weekends, when the press and other Americans are distracted. The problem is: the Nation is a mess of rising crime, Health Care fallout, Id theft on massive scale, plus Iranian warships headed our way-and all Obama/Holder do-hiding behind the Race Card-is push social issues like gay marriage or legal pot or abortion!

In 2014/2016, vote Republican, America! We are not perfect, but we warned this would happen. Iranian warships off our coastlines is
Not acceptable! This must be a test run of when they have nuclear weapons, a given under Obama!
