Obama, Harper make bet over Olympic hockey games

(CNN) – When the U.S. and Canada face off Friday in a men's showdown at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, there's more than just bragging rights on the line. There's beer.

President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper made a Twitter wager Thursday, with each betting a case of beer from their country.

That bet included the women's championship game that took place between the neighboring countries Thursday, but the U.S. lost in overtime, leaving at least one case of American beer to be sent north across the border.

The men's teams square off Friday in the semi-finals. The winner of that game will go on to the final against the winner of the semi-final between Finland and Sweden.

If Barack Obama sends Budweiser, it will probably be poured down the drain.

I don't know when this happened, but American beer is now better than Canadian beer. It isn't just Coors, Miller and Bud anymore. Has anyone tried Goose Island's The Illinois – wow. This is what BO should give him.

Can someone taste the two countries beer to see the better brewed...... There might be cheating in the bet swapping good beer for bad beer.

Kind of a lose-lose for the President. Team America loses and he has to send the Canuck-in-Chief beer. Team America wins and he gets Canadian beer? No thanks.

If the U.S. wins tomorrow, Canada can keep the beer, but they have to send Don Cherry to charm school. Make the punishment stick.

Canadian beer has always and will always taste better then American beer. If anyone thinks Bud, Coors or PBR are good, you need to get out more. Stop falling for those stupid commercials. A beer delivered by some guy in the Rockies is not going to make you more of a man like they want you to think. Canadian beers like Molson and Labatt's are much better tasting. And yes, Canada does have craft beers just like here..

Goose Island is pretty good. Dog Fish Head IMO is one of the most unique craft brewers in the country. A single 12 oz. 120 Minute IPA is more effective then any 6 pack I can think of.

I really hope they go with good microbrews. There are some fantastic ones on both sides of the border. If it's Budweiser vs Molson Canadian they may as well just pour it down the drain.

Just about the only thing President Obama has lost in 6 years at the White House.

Our President is a winner, and because of him, America is a winner.

These are good times for America.
