Obama loses bet, Canada gets more beer

(CNN) – It didn't take long for Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to remind President Barack Obama that the U.S. President now owes Canada two cases of beer, following the loss of the U.S. men's hockey team at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

About 15 minutes minutes after his country's team bested the U.S. on the ice, the Prime Minister claimed his prize on Twitter.

The heads of state had made the friendly wager Thursday morning, with each betting a case of beer on Friday's semi-final game, as well as the women's championship game on Thursday. The U.S. women's team lost in overtime, 3-2.

As for the men's team, Canada defeated its southern neighbors, 1-0. It was the second Olympic games in which Canada knocked the U.S. out of gold medal contention.

Dems are desperate.....trying to destroy Christie with everything they got........ love to read the criticism...but they don't apply the same standard to beloved Hillary who did nothing positive as a 1st lady, nothing as a senator from a state where she never lived, nothing as a secretary of State...other than lying or pressing stupid reset buttons and traveling all over. and she never took that 3 am call!
    ********************************
Lets see, she made health care and children her priority as first lady, and was demonized for it. As my Senator she made a point of visiting every county, getting to know every local offical regardless of party and was re-elected overwhelmingly, including in areas Democrats had not made an impression in generations, and she restored our shattered international image after the unilateral mishandling that occurred under the neo-cons. Now, she is far qualified to take that 3:00 AM call than the Governor Traffic Study, far more than Governor OOPS, and far more than any other sacrificial lamb the GOP cares to throw out there. Why? Because she is seen as experienced and with having fresh approaches, unlike the GOP, which is recycling the ideas of Ronald Reagan and Herbert Hoover in a vain attempt to appear fresh while hoping that no one has passed a history course any time in the recent past. As far as Christie is concerned, he is coming off as grossly overrated and incompetant, and that's what the conservative press in NJ and NY are saying about him.

I'd like to see Nugent go to a stand-your-ground state, say a few choice words and meet the fate he deserves at the hands of folks who feel threatened by his lunacy.

It was nice to see Canada win. If we had to lose to anybody, I'd rather it be our good friends to the north. Hockey is their national religion. Let them enjoy the gold, as they don't get much else up there to enjoy except the occasional balmy 40 degree day.

Conservative media is cutting Christie off at the knees. Now we're finding out that the "traffic study" had originally been planned to run for the entire month of September.

@Donna: "Enjoy your beer. You will never get the Keystone pipeline now! Obama is very vindictive."

You really don't know how these things work, do you? Reuters reported that on Wednesday of this week, a Nebraska court voided the governor's decision to allow the Keystone XL pipeline to pass his state. Apparently, the court heeded the concern expressed by some landowners who objected to the legislation, saying it disregarded their property rights.

So I guess the landowners of Nebraska are the vindictive ones, eh, Donna?

  23. The REAL Truth...

@Donna – Enjoy your beer. You will never get the Keystone pipeline now! Obama is very vindictive.
    ----------------------------–
I sincerely hope they do, 'cus it's sure better than that coolaid you're drinking!!
The pipeline does nothing for the US except:
    – Line the pockets of big oil.
    – Creates less than 9,0000 TEMPORARY jobs during construction, ZERO when complete.
    – Cretes less than 100 permanent jobs along the ENTIRE length (7 states? big woo!).
    – Sludge will be refined and EXPORTED to China..
    – it will not reduce the price of gasoline in the US and may cause price INCREASES in the midwest
    – does NOTHING to move us toward energy independence.
And that doesn't even touch on the environmental and eminent domain aspects associated with the pipeline. I'm not against Keystone being built, but puh-lease stop drinking the swill and be truthful about why they want it!
