Alabama candidate takes aim at Obamacare

(CNN) - A U.S. House candidate in Alabama is literally shooting down Obamacare.

A video released by his campaign on Wednesday, shows Will Brooke using a variety of firearms to destroy a copy of the Affordable Care Act.

The ad begins with Brooke seated on the bed of a truck next to a stack of paper that he says is a copy of the law championed by the President.

The ad is titled "Let's Do Some Damage."

Brooke then drives off in truck, displaying a bumper sticker that reads "I prefer the dangers of a limited government!"

He arrives in a wooded area, loads the Obamacare papers into a wooden box starts shooting.

"We're down here to have a little fun today and talk about two serious subjects: the Second Amendment, and see how much damage we can do to this copy of Obamacare," he says in the ad.

After blasting it rhetorically and literally, Brooke loads the health care copy into a wood chipper and shreds what was left of it.

Brooke's campaign video was first reported by The Daily Caller.

Brooke is one of seven Republican candidates vying for the seat of retiring Rep. Spencer Bachus in the state’s 6th Congressional District.

The Alabama Republican isn't the first to use guns to hammer home a policy issue.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia used a rifle to "take dead aim at Cap and Trade" in a 2010 campaign ad against efforts to pass a sweeping environmental bill in Congress.

Republicans nationwide are aggressively campaigning against Obamacare, which aims to provide health coverage to millions of people without it. It passed Congress in 2010 without any Republican support. Republicans hope to expand their majority in the House and reclaim the Senate.

CNN's Dana Davidsen contributed to this report.

to just asking: no, we're actually being held hostage by an insurance industry that sucks up nearly 40% of all monies spent on healthcare, for producing nothing of value. That is the true deficciency of the ACA, the catering to for-profit interests first and foremost. Did you know many of the ideas in the ACA camme from 90s-era republicans and the conservative Heritage Foundation? The real problem is that this is one area of life that shouldn't be about profit.. Look up Physicians For A National Healthcare System, you may actually learn something.

Still want to know how Obama can change a law without the approval of Congress like continuing to move dates and so on.

A typical right wing Republican idea.
Ah don't agree so I'll ( figuratively ) stand my ground and shoot anything or anyone who gets in mah way. He clearly has the NRA support already.
Finally his tiny brain cannot even tell us what he is trying to destroy ( and not by normal democratic means just theater) he says " Obamacare" since that technically and legally does not exist he did not destroy PPACA.
Hello 51 democratic votes failed to destroy PPACA and 51 plus bullets and a shredding machine has never and will never change a law passed by congress and signed into law by the president, nor will the money wasted by stupid Republican challenges to the law all the way up to SCOTUS, do so either.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

  5. The Republican Party Is Dead To Me

Another bible thumping, gun toting zealot, hell bent on grabbing media time so his constituents can see the drama. It's 8-to-5 that many he'd get votes from have never read a book thicker than their watch band. We need their leader to bring the rest of us down to their level.

What a wonderfully mature and substantive way to make an argument. Will he be pulling out a tape measure and notifying us of his length and girth next?

He should follow the President's and the left's lead and just lie.

Red staters get to keep their junk policies for another year, Alabama denied their citizens a chance to get Medicaid, sued the government, has a tremendous per cent of uninsured, so, why not vote for an idiot?
    ======================================

Only Obama is intelligent enough to determine what coverage an individual needs huh. Does he need to tell you what auto coverage you need also? Who pays for Medicaid?

Little member man with big gun taking away medical treatment for his southern backwoods buddies. What kind of damage is that he's talking about because guns kill. That kind of damage?
I just love the way the teaklans want smaller government while at the same time wanting to take away our human rights.
Unfortunately those southerners are too brainless to understand that this is their health care he's shredding. You really can't fix stupid!
    ====================================

So free HC is a human right ? BTW, he isn't shredding my HC. I have my own coverage which I have been paying for over 30 years. Who provides your HC....the tax payers? Is that because it is your human right to have someone else provide it for you? You must be really special.

I'm wondering if Tampa Tim knows why some governors decided not to expand Medicaid...
    --–
Yes I do know why they refused to accept Medicaid, but am really interested what you think the reason is.

In other words he doesn't have a clue......LOL.

News Flash. Some Senate Democrats to introduce new Fix for Obama Care. Besides the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Plans Democrats to introduce Copper plan. Next to come will be Plastic, Cardboard, and Lead Plans. That 100 year old innertube is developing plenty of holes. Maybe time to buy new one. Or just junk this one.

This guy is out of his mind. He's worse than the guy from yesterday who claimed pig slaughtering as his bona fides to be a U.S. Representative in the House. Is this what's got Republicans all excited about 2014? People like this will attract Democrats to the polls, just to make sure that he loses.

"hey tampon timmy, did it ever occur to you that not everybody wants the government embedded into every part of their personal life, especially healthcare?"

So, why is it that conservatives are so concerned over women's health care, specifically birth control?

Good lord can these people get anymore backwoods???

I just want to say Thank You President Obama! Your election and subsequent reelection has caused many in this country to lose their natural minds! They're still fighting the Civil War. Thanks to you occupying that big White House on the Hill, many have come from under their sheets and hoods and are being exposed for exactly what they are.

Keep your head up Mr. President and brush the dirt off your shoulders and keep up the good work!!!

Just the kind of candidate who will win big in a state like Alabama (and Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, West Virginia, etc.). It boggles the mind to observe the lack of intelligence of the voters in Deep Red, depressed states who already get far more form the Federal Government than they contribute in taxes.

  25. Whereisthemiddle?

It's too bad the ACA was passed under a Democratic administration. It was a Republican idea but they have had to let it go in the wonderful world of politics. I still don't know why they can't just fix it will some common sense amendments. I want to believe the fiscal responsible people in Congress but it's hard to take them seriously when their only answer is slash and burn. Can't we just have some freedom from the health insurance companies? Why let them make the rules?
