Alabama candidate takes aim at Obamacare

(CNN) - A U.S. House candidate in Alabama is literally shooting down Obamacare.

A video released by his campaign on Wednesday, shows Will Brooke using a variety of firearms to destroy a copy of the Affordable Care Act.

The ad begins with Brooke seated on the bed of a truck next to a stack of paper that he says is a copy of the law championed by the President.

The ad is titled "Let's Do Some Damage."

Brooke then drives off in truck, displaying a bumper sticker that reads "I prefer the dangers of a limited government!"

He arrives in a wooded area, loads the Obamacare papers into a wooden box starts shooting.

"We're down here to have a little fun today and talk about two serious subjects: the Second Amendment, and see how much damage we can do to this copy of Obamacare," he says in the ad.

After blasting it rhetorically and literally, Brooke loads the health care copy into a wood chipper and shreds what was left of it.

Brooke's campaign video was first reported by The Daily Caller.

Brooke is one of seven Republican candidates vying for the seat of retiring Rep. Spencer Bachus in the state’s 6th Congressional District.

The Alabama Republican isn't the first to use guns to hammer home a policy issue.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia used a rifle to "take dead aim at Cap and Trade" in a 2010 campaign ad against efforts to pass a sweeping environmental bill in Congress.

Republicans nationwide are aggressively campaigning against Obamacare, which aims to provide health coverage to millions of people without it. It passed Congress in 2010 without any Republican support. Republicans hope to expand their majority in the House and reclaim the Senate.

CNN's Dana Davidsen contributed to this report.

I'm wondering if Tampa Tim knows why some governors decided not to expand Medicaid...

@just asking, you are a lay person regarding the law is concerned, well, in Administrative law, An Executive some ad hoc adjournments and make the law work. These ad hoc adjournments are just transient and temporary. He thus can condone the delay. Nothing Obama did wrong though.

Alabama did not want to extand their Medicare, but they hate Common Core because they cannot teach Intelligent Desgin in school. I guess they prefer using Bibical cures for everything.
This is a typical appeal to "No Infoirmation" voter.

Tampa Tim, you need to find another country such as Russia where someone will tell you what to do, when to do it, I dont care if you dont want to, and this is what you will have. Here in the states we are supposed to have freedoms which Obama is stepping on every day.

    wise guy
Dems, you have a hook in your mouth, sucker! My insurance is the best I've had in over ten years, and my premiums went down, just a little under 60 per month, no subsidies

Alamama receives $2.03 in Govt. aid for every $1.00 collected in tax. Fight for smaller government? Alabama could receive $0.00 for every dollar collected in tax. I'd vote for this guy!

Why should I be compelled to subsidize other peoples' poor lifestyle decisions? Obamacare is not going to go broke paying for sufferers of chronic conditions brought on by genetics or accidents. Obamacare will go broke paying for people who CHOOSE to over eat, drink, smoke, engage in sexually risk seeking behaviors and have more children than they can afford.

Why should I be compelled to subsidize the poor decisions of others? Why can THEY not simply say no to self destructive behavior? Because THEY do not have to bear the full economic weight of their poor decisions.

This is not about compassion, it is about personal responsibility.

The solution? Health Savings Accounts at birth where government or employer money is matched 50/50. You want to go to the doctor for a little sniffle? You pay. Not me.

Republicans hate "Obamacare" so much, they spent 4 years and over 1 billion dollars trying to replace Obama with the guy who invented it.

This has never been about the so-called evils of the Affordable Care Act. It's always been about Republican's blind, hyper-partisan, hatred and their total disregard for the health and well being of the American people.

Republicans have killed every effort to reform our nation's health care system for the last 40 years. Even as health care costs have skyrocketed.

Why anyone in their right mind who is not a billionaire would even consider voting Republican is a total mystery.

I worry more about these nut cases that I do about any terrorist organization in the world. Their view of their perfect world is pretty sick.

A real man would have shot up one of the recipients of ObamaCare, for example, a small child or an elderly person with a preexisting condition.

The House GOP has voted 50, five-zero, times to repeal Obamacare. It's all pointless posturing to the right wingnut fan base - the same base that says things like "get your government hands off my Medicare. And these votes are a colossal waste of taxpayer money, and a colossal waste of time.

The scary part of the NRA is that they would vote for Adolf Hitler if he came back to life and ran for POTUS with the 2nd Amendment as his only platform.

Will Brooke apparently knows the stupidity of his moronic teatard base. It's really shameful how right wing media makes people be against things in their best interest. Listening to this lady from Americans for Prosperity last night on Chris Hayes, it's obvious that these liars make up any kind of bs and air it to the public. For a brainwashed teatard, she makes a convincing argument.......no matter how factless her claims are.
