Harry Reid push called 'un-American' in new ad

Washington (CNN) - American Encore, a new conservative group created by outside money specialist Sean Noble, is airing a television ad in Nevada attacking Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for proposing IRS regulations that would rein in outside political groups.

The minute-long spot features a clip of Reid on the Senate floor blasting the billionaire business titans Charles and David Koch, who have steered hundreds of millions of dollars to conservative causes in recent election cycles without disclosing their donors, "as un-American as anyone that I can imagine."

"Sen. Reid, attempting to kill free speech because you disagree with what's said, that's unfair and that un-American," the ad's narrator says. "Tell Harry Reid, stop attacking free speech."

American Encore is spending $30,000 to air the commercial for a week on Las Vegas cable, beginning Monday. It's accompanied by a digital ad buy.

The group, a 501(c)4 organization that launched earlier this month, plans to spend $10 million this midterm cycle against Democrats who have been critical of outside campaign spending.

Noble, the organization's founder, formerly headed the Center to Protect Patient Rights, a Koch-affiliated group that funneled almost $200 million in undisclosed contributions to conservative entities like Americans for Prosperity and the National Rifle Association between 2009 and 2012, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

American Encore has already aired a TV ad in Minnesota that attacked Democratic Sen. Al Franken, who is up for re-election this year. Reid is not on the ballot again until 2016.

UPDATE: The Nevada Democratic party condemned the ad in a statement Monday.

"Nothing says 'free speech' like shadowy billionaires spending unlimited amounts of money on a massive campaign of deception to buy an election," said party spokesman Zach Hudson.

"The Koch brothers' extreme agenda of privatizing Social Security and ending Medicare as we know it to pay for tax breaks for corporations that ship American jobs overseas is out-of-touch with Nevada. Fortunately, Nevadans have Harry Reid fighting for a strong middle class and a growing economy."

Consider the source Rudy and brush it off your ankles like so much dust.
    That's what I did .
Remember when she used to quote you and say that if you had to resort to name-calling you'd already lost the argument?
I also find it interesting that Fair thinks it is okay to go at someone through someone else's comment except when it is done to her.
Things that would make you go hmmm if we didn't know what Fair is Fair is all about: not much.

There's a lot of projection in the statement the ad attempts to make.

EVERYONE...I MEAN EVERYONE. The issues is not that the billionaires are donating millions to the different groups. The ISSUE is they do it SECRETLY!! My feelings are they can give away as much as they want, BUT they need to make it so that the public knows. Why?? Because if one of these so called groups only has 50 members and they have ad buys of $2 million dollars it PROBABLY means a HUGE portion of that money is coming from ONE person. WE the people should know that because it is then ONE person attempting to influence an election under the guise of being a group. This is a HUGE difference!!! THEY (the billionaires and politicians on both sides know this) and that is why they fight it. NO MORE HIDING!!! A well informed public is a more powerful public.

DMFO! How is your Monday going? Now, come on, here with Fair calling Rudy a "name". She called him the sage of the ticker – which he thinks he is. Are we so thin skinned here to say that calling someone the sage of the ticker in a sarcastic tone is namecalling? Jeeez.

As for Rudy, give me a break, dude. She's calling you out and I appreciate it. You quoted a very wise man (odd for you to actually do) because you thought he was on your side by saying trickle down economics is a Trojan horse for higher earners to pay less in taxes. Kudos to you for quoting someone of intelligence for once. However, you try and portray his as some former Reagan aide who has seen the light and believes in the liberal agenda. What you totally neglect to tell the memes on here about Mr. Stockman is that he is a supporter of Ron Paul and endorsed him for president. You also neglected to say that he thought Paul Ryan's economic theories are outdated and, most importantly, didn't mention that he thinks that Obama plays the class warfare card more than any president since FDR. Wouldn't those also be valuable things to mention if you're going to portray someone as supporting the liberal agenda? Of course it would. But you don't do that ever Rudy (just like you try and say the Heritage foundation would support the ACA because they talked about a mandate in one of their health insurance solutions yet they don't support almost anything else about the ACA). It's disingenuous at best, intellectually dishonest at its heart and a lie at it's worst.

Soros spent a little more than a million for some projects, while the Kochs, Rove, Adelson and others spent over a billion on Mittens.

Dark money corrupts politics by buying access and influence. The obscene amounts of money from anonymous donors is currently the greatest threat to our democracy. The Åmerican Encore ad is not true about restricting free speech. It is a cynical attempt to mislead the public and hide the names of its donors.

Compared to the Kochs, Adelson, and others, he effectively did. The Obama campaign more than made up for it with tens of thousands of small donations, something which the right wing cannot possibly match. Wny? Because conservatives come in just a few flavors: misers, paupers, and a very small group of megalomaniacs. It's from the latter group is where the most of teh money comes from.

He also said the Koch's are involved in the Keystone pipeline which they have nothing to do with but it helps him make his point so he just adds that in even though that was debunked.

If the Koch brothers were Democrat contributors Red and the Democrats would be hailing them as glorious patriots. But because they do not share and support Democrat views and policies, they are somehow 'un-American' according to this senile, corrupt little man. He should be removed from ANY position of power immediately. What HE has done is un-American.

Of course for that to happen, the Kochs would not be in the oil business or support ultra-Rightist policies.
Meanwhile if your aunt had had different orientations, she would have been your uncle. Some fairy tale, eh?

For extra points, explain how taking private land from families for their tar-sand oil pipeline is "American", or maybe how pushing legislation that takes away the right to vote is good for our nation?
