Obama: Congress 'least productive' in modern history

(CNN) –President Barack Obama didn't mince words about Congress and the opposition during a speech at a Houston dinner Wednesday evening.
"This has become the least productive Congress in modern history, recent memory," Obama said at the Texas dinner, according to media pool reports. The event was closed to cameras.

Obama spoke to about 60 people at a Democratic fundraiser at the home of John Eddie and Sheridan Williams.

He made a reference to the Paycheck Fairness Act of 2014. Senate Republicans on Wednesday blocked a Democratic-backed proposal that aims to even the pay gap between men and women.

GOP members argued there are already laws against pay discrimination and the act would lead to government interference in the workplace.

"Apparently, a lot of Republicans during debate said this idea of gender pay gap is a fantasy - it's not real," Obama said. "Every individual makes other choices; very rarely do they make the choice to get paid less for same job. This is just one example of the scores of issues that are critical to advancing the country's future which not only is the other side blocking progress, but they're not even offering an alternative vision."

Obama asked the crowd to take the upcoming midterm elections as seriously as any election.

"They not be as sexy or get as much publicity, but it's as important to the future of our children and grandchildren as anything we'd do."

What has happened to America? As I drive around Palm Beach County I now see not only men and women begging for money to buy food but now there are children, a husband, wife and their little babies with signs; we have no food! It brings tears to my eyes. What has happened to caring and compassion for people? How sad and ashamed we all should be!

Though the Paycheck Fairness Act may be a good idea, The Obama Administration is notorious for having unequal pay for female staff.
However were other First Lady's needed only one aide, Queen Michelle apparently needs a whole entourage.

I disagree with our President. This is probably the least productive congress in the history of the US.
When an elected official is more interested in hating the WH resident than in doing their job how can we grow and prosper as a country.
They are going to have to put their big boy pants on after 2016 when a woman takes over the WH and I don't think Hillary is going to be as nice as Obama has been.

This congress could be the most productive in history at the time the country is hurting economically, socially and with our foreign allies. However, this President chooses to be partisan and divisive in order to create an adversarial political climate to maintain a power hungry Democratic party. A true leader would bring people together regardless of ideology to solve problems for the good of the American people, rich or poor and everyone in between.

What else would you expect; the Obama presidency is nothing to brag about, he is a Failure on every level.

And an administration elected by low-information voters is populated with low-information officials who are ignorant of the laws they are charged to enforce and often misuse them.

Obama is the worst President in all of your history, and his own partisanship, has made cooperation in Congress non-existent.

Obama is the CAUSE of the problems with Congress.

The republicans are doing the job they were hired to do. Block as many of this administrations country killing policies as they can. This administrations definition of "forward" is not good for this country.

The most recent example of Republicans being totally anti-Obama was displayed in the US Senate when Republican refused allow passage of the President supported Women's Fair Pay bill.

Given the opportunity to do what's greatly needed in regard to insuring pay equality for the working women of this country, the GOP's obsession with opposing Obama at every turn takes priority over doing the right thing for women.

The GOP is obviously trying to make President Obama only a two term President.......

Obama asked the crowd to take the upcoming midterm elections as seriously as any election.
    -------------------------------------------------
If not more seriously, if only because we've had 6 straight years of what passes for a Republican these days clearly demonstrating to one and all whom they are working for and whose interests they are protecting.
    And it is not us.
VOTE this November America you owe it to yourself and your country.

Like it or not that congress was sent to Washington to stop the Socialist Wing of the Democratic party from implementing its agenda. They have done a great job to date. Next year you will see a productive congress and a just say no executive branch. Sorry that is the way it suppose to work. Get over it.

Mr. President, you don't even need to waste your time saying so. Every voter knows this. Those who are 30 years and above will say the same: the least productive Congress in recent history. Their Approval Rating tells all. 12%, I repeat 12% and still they continue to cash in their monthly check without doing anything. If it was a Private Company, who would tolerate such people?. November can't come fast enough and voters will clean the House thoroughly. Trust us.

I'm just wondering how much the dinner cost for those 60 to attend. So odd how they left that part out. Perhaps our president can stop perpetuating the lie about equal pay and stop dividing us.

The problem with this congress is the President, for he will neither compromise or neogociate with the Republican members. His attitude is my way or I'll just use executive orders. Governing on one's ideology and not on the need of ALL Americans gets you little or nothing.

  25. What's in that Tea Anyway?

Ain't it the truth Mr. President. I've never seen, in over 50 years a GOP that's been this useless....no ideas, no solutions, all they are willing to offer is the word "No". If it wasn't for the President and the Dems, this country would still be mired in the worst economic times since the great depression. And that was created under a Republican administration. But you can't tell a Faux and Fools faithful subscriber. Those geniuses still think President Obama caused it.... i.e. Just Sayin, rla, Donna, Fair is Fair, smh
