FYI, the current count has the ACA causing 12 million more americans to be insured then before.

This includes those through the exchanges, those who qualified in the states that enacted the expanded healthcare rules of the ACA, those who are insured under their parents policies up to the age of 26 and those who lost their insurance and didn't replace it with another private insurance plan outside the exchanges.

The net change is +12 million insured americans... NET.

Obviously, numbers released this close to the date are subject to updates as additional information gets compiled... but the current "best estimate" is that 12 million more people are insured because of Obamacare. That's a pretty solid increase... about of quarter of the uninsured population is now insured. If the medicaid expansion was rolled out to the states that rejected it, you'd be looking at more like 15-16 million. Even without that estimates sugges we'd get to 25-30 million by 2016.

    Anyway... just the numbers.
    -----------
And in addition to all that, I am not part of the 12 million. But I am benefited by knowing I will not be dropped randomly by having a previously discovered condition or because my disease is going on too long. I knew people that went broke in the system before ACA. This is beyond the new people getting signed up.

@Tampa Tim-The govt. hasn`t came out with any real concrete numbers with regards to the ACA. Also, there is no statistical data showing that somebody`s so called junk policy is worse then what the ACA offers.

@Tampa Tim, Malory &Tone-You guys realize when B. Clinton left office the US was almost 6 trillion in debt. That`s not good! Also, the surplus is a moot point. That`s like saying you have some money in your pocket but you also have 60 thousand dollars of credit card debt. Not good! Both Dems and Repubs lead to the economy going down the toilet.

Perhaps if the previous occupant hadn't messed up so badly on the foreign policy front, that "reset button" wouldn't have been necessary. Yeah, that "reset button" was necessary because of him.

Still on the Blame Bush trail 6 YEARS later huh? Well, it looks like Obama and Hillary Clinton reset relations alright! Right back to the 1970's and '80's. Please tell Obama and Clinton the 80's are calling, they want their foreign policy back!

Reality Check! Bush did let Putin walk off with Georgia without a squeak. You think maybe Putin "learned something" there?
    --

Bush only had a few months left in his term. Are you saying he should have gone to war and handed it to Obama?

But one thing is clear, Obama should have seen what Putin was because he had shown his hand in Georgia. But what did Obama do? He cancelled a missile defense shield to please Putin and got nothing in return. He shown our allies he'd throw them under the bus and that he couldn't be trusted. He then went on to slap them on the knee and promise to be more flexible. All this after Putin, the ex-KGB head in communist days, he proven he was a bad actor.

Obama is simply deaf, dumb and blind when it cones to foreign policy. The whole Russian reset fiasco proves it.

I stand by my statement that the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the reason the reset button was necessary because that is a fact. Sorry the truth hurts so much, but let it be a lesson to you that you need to choose more competent individuals to represent your party if you wish to avoid "reset buttons" in the future.

smith – The CBO reported the savings. Are we going to argue the meaning of junk policy? Lifetime caps, denial of insurance for those who get sick, no insurance for those with pre existing conditions, costs for wellness, etc., pretty much define junk.

Why do republicans want to deny access to health care for Americans? Why do they want to get rid of social security, Medicare, and veterans benefits? It has to be a brain malfunction.

Smith – You do realize that when Clinton left office, there was a budget surplus, lowering the Reagan Bush national debt to under $7 trillion. When the unfunded wars, tax cuts, drug programs, TARP, under W were put on the books, the debt was almost $13 trillion, with a $1.5 trillion deficit in W's last year. The wars, drug programs, and tax cuts did not end the day Obama was elected.

Tony D – Are you still denying that Bush left our economy in the crapper? Unfunded unnecessary wars, tax cuts for the wealthy, record job loss, TARP, unfunded drug programs; none of which automatically stopped the day Obama was elected.
    ---

The Democrats controlled the House and Senate for two years leading us right into the recession. Democrat Barney Frank stated there was no housing bubble crisis, no problems with subprime loans, all a bunch of lies. One man does not cause an entire housing market to collapse. Only uneducated fools believe those lies. The forced lending to people who couldn't payback loans caused the collapse. those were Democrat policies that they defended even as the house of cards was collapsing around them.

Tax cuts for people that actually paid taxes, what a concept. And Obama and the Democrats continued them and still continue most of them to this days. Economy benefited greatly with nearly 50 months of STRONG economic growth, not dismal Obama economic growth levels.

But actually the recession ended 6 months after Obama took office and even before he and the Democrats wasted trillions but yet here were are 6 years later with record unemployment. By any measure, Obama and the Demorcats have been a total failure on the jobs/economic front.

And for you idiots that post that the stock market is doing great, might I remind you that a booming stock market has nothing to do with job growth and the economy. It is yet another government created bubble that will burst, as they always do.

Well of course you do Sweetie.... We all understand it is not realistic to expect you to admit Obama's Russian foreign policy has been as big a failure as Obama's domestic economic policies. We know you well enough by now. Everything Obama screws up is Bush's fault. We get it. You are beginning to sound like a broken record.

    Agreed
Dutch/Bad Newz, VA – Take Back the House
Russia's economy is on the verge of recession. Those sanctions seem to be working.

Yes, Obama sure does know how to wreck economies. He's had 6 years of experience wrecking ours.

Last time I checked, the DOW was over 16,000 and Wall Street is back to business as usual. Don't let FACTS cloud your judgement though.

And the IgNobel Prize of Economy goes to... Tony D!
Seriously, the governments acts since the meltdown have NOTHING to do with the recovery of the stock market?
Talk about living in a bubble!

Tony D – Still blaming Pelosi for Bush's failures? The wars, embassy attacks, 9-11, the tax cuts for the wealthy happened while there was a republican majority in congress. You sound more like the "i" word you use to describe those who are not brain dead. I think if you fact check, the great republican recession ended after Obama took office, Hannity is lying.

@Tampa Tim-That is a complete lie. B. Clinton increased the debt it never decreased during his presidency. Also, before Clinton took office the debt was lower.

smith – it is the complete truth. You certainly have enough time to fact check your lies. He balanced the budget too. Lowered the debt and balanced the budget, something a republican could never do.
