Warren repeats she's 'not running for president'

(CNN) – Days before the release of her new book, Sen. Elizabeth Warren reiterated that she's not angling for a White House bid.

"I'm not running for president," the Massachusetts Democrat said in an interview that aired Sunday on CBS's "Sunday Morning."

Pressed again, she stood firm: "I'm not running for president. You can ask it lots of different ways."

The timing of her book's release on Tuesday has drawn parallels to President Barack Obama, who also published a title two years into his first Senate term back in 2006. He announced his presidential campaign less than a year later.

Warren, who was elected to the Senate in 2012, has become the face of the progressive movement. While former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the overwhelming favorite in public opinion polls for the 2016 Democratic nomination, Warren frequently comes in at a distant second or third place.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said last week that the senator, who's built her brand around challenging Wall Street, is "the prototype of a person we would want to be president."

"She has a very well defined set of values and unlike many politicians, she actually sticks by those values and fights to implement them. In short, it don't get no better," he said in a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" session.

But Warren has said before that she's "not running for president" and has pledged to serve out her term through 2018.

Her memoir, "A Fighting Chance," is set to release Tuesday and details her life story while also laying out her case for a more level playing field in the country's economic marketplace.

CNN's Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

  1. ThinkAgain - Don't like Congress? Get rid of the repub/tea bag majority.

Looking forward to seeing her run at a later data. Ms. Warren is a champion of the average American – we desperately need more politicians who share her concern (i.e., we need to elects more Democrats).

Screw credentials or experience, vote for family name!

BTW: wasn't Jimmy Carter recongnized as one of the country's worst Presidents?
    ----
Harry Read – If you google worst presidents, Jimmy Carter isn't in the 10 worst. A lot of republicans are, though.

She's as ambitious as Hillary, but savy enough to wait until "Grandma" Hillary
decides. In any scenario, The Awful Obama
regime plagues both, from Boston to Benghazi and Damascus on to Odessa and
Kiev, plus a fiasco called Obamacare.

Republicans warned US about all of the above. Vote for us in both Nov elections!
We got rid of Pelosi; Reid is next.

After the last 6 years of Obama disaster. the last thing we need is this bozo lying leftist Harvard professor that has done a real days worth of work in her life. She has been a paid shill for insurance companies while claiming to be for the little guy. She was paid a six figure salary by Harvard for doing almost nothing. This woman is another leftist FRAUD.

This news is s shame to me , because I can't think of a better candidate as a women president than she would be. She highly intelligent and is for the working class , has principals , as well as integrity. Just wish she would run with Senator Bernie Sanders, what a wonderful pair they would make.

The media keeps trying to push this meme that Elizabeth Warren could run in 2016 every single time there is even the slightest negative news about Hillary (as if Hillary's potential campaign is suddenly on the verge of collapse) or every time Warren speaks in public as they are desperate for a Democratic primary challenge for Hillary. They keep trying to make the point that Warren is the leader of this "vast progressive army" just over the horizon, waiting to charge over the hill and take down Hillary (and the entire U.S. banking system supposedly). What the media fails to mention each and every time is that there is no vast progressive army (Warren consistently polls in the single digits . . . among Democrats! Let me repeat that . . . SINGLE digits! And of those, most of her supporters consist of the Occupy Wall Street crowd, who apparently don't have full-time jobs and their worldly possessions consist of pop-up tents and ratty sleeping bags. Hardly the deep pocketed donors you would need to run a viable campaign.
Additionally, in her book, Warren tells us how hurt and taken aback she was by the criticism from the right during her Senate campaign. She ain't seen nothin' yet if she were to actually run in the general election and she doesn't sound like she's up to it!

    Uh,
The people are just about at the end of their rope with the Liberals screwing everything up the last 100 years. Look for at least a 12 year run of Republicans in the Presidency, House, and Senate. Warren knows she is dead meat for this decade and beyond. The people are going to boot the democrats so far they won't know what Zip Code they are in. Hope you have a good retirement plan.

I love Elizabeth Warren. She is awesome.

    BUT

She should not run. We can't afford to be so narcissistic as to think that the majority of this country would vote for her if they heard her message. She is way way to the left of the American political center of gravity. As am I. If it were up to me I would have Elizabeth Warren in the white house, on the Supremem Court, in the Senate, in congress...

    BUT

It isn't up to me and all you have to do is look around to see the right wing troglodytes foaming at the mouth, calling Obama a communist, calling right wing kkk and neo-nazis liberals, calling the moderate centrist policy socialism, calling hard right wing Ayn Randian whackadoodle politics moderate, etc...

You only need to glance at Fox News or the Tea Party to know that 40% of the country is approaching verifiable brain dead status.

As much as I WANT Elizabeth Warren, we have to bring the vomit bag with us again to the polling station, and vote for Hillary. the ALTERNATIVE is pure fascism.

Even with the historic gerrymandering that the GOP pulled after 2010 a 52% majority can take back the house. We will likely gain back some if not all of the seats we lost this election. If we stick with the "must better than the alternative" Clinton, we will swamp the GOP in 2016 guaranteed.

We NEED to get the gavels out of the hands of those right wing traitors in every committee and sub-committee.

Cynical? Maybe. But giving the GOP the best chance they could wish for of victory by running someone as stellar as Warren is so irresponsible I cannot form words to describe it.

I wish we were living in a better country, but the country we have filled to the half way mark by the scm flth and sh from the red states is the way it is right now. We must keep our eys on the larger ball and not be tempted into driving off the cliff due to a wish to "feel good" about our vote.

To anyone with decency in their heart and a sense of history, it is clear that the Tea Party represents nothing less than death and destruction and the abyss.

Interesting that on this day of celebrating the resurrection of our Lord, the GOP sees fit to act as the new Pharisees, and condemn those who want to throw the moneychangers out of the Temple of our democracy. Everything the GOP is doing is to satisfy some perverse need to support those who want to control everything, from our faith to our bodies, and all in the name of keeping the moneychangers in the temple. They are afraid of change, and are afraid of moving forward. Why? Because they worship Mammon, and not the Lord, and they covet money, power and fame while ignoring the consequences and the responsibilities for their actions. Jesus did not die so Citizens United could allow rich people to buy elections under the guise of doing things in the interests of the people, when in reality all they are doing is enabling the rich to become wealthier and more powerful at the expense of the people who actually make it happen. Warren is an uncomfortable reminder to them of how morally empty they really are, and that they are an empty vessel from every principle that milenia of Judeo-Christian values has proved to be important. Is Warren perfect? Not at all, but she is a damn sight better than an opportunist like Ted Cruz, who truly is a Pharisee. The Objectivist nightmare the Right is attempting to sneak into the fabric of our lives is a rejection of every moral precept that our culture holds dear. If you are greedy, fine, proclaim it, but don't attempt to pass yourself off as anything other than that. A Christian, you are not and never will be. Your acts of charity will be nothing if the sole purpose is to make yourself feel good and get a tax write-off. I hope Warren stays in the Senate for decades if for no other reason than to enrage those who feel the uncomfortable sensation of the conscience being reminded that it matters.

@rick, as always, the talking points from the faux news and the oxycodone fat boy (who is losing lots of money).
Elizabeth Warren is an extremely intelligent woman and she did all she could to make sure next time the banks go under and their CEOs walk away with millions that the little guy gets some.
