First Lady changes plans after controversy over high school graduation address

(CNN) - Michelle Obama will no longer speak at Kansas high school graduation ceremony after protests that the first lady's presence meant less family members could attend because seating would be more limited.

Instead, the White House announced Thursday, Obama will speak May 16 at a "Senior Recognition Day" - the day before the official graduation.

Mrs. Obama's remarks in Topeka coincide with the celebration of the city's 60th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education, barring school segregation.

Any guess what that "something" could be?

Just like her failed husband, the BIGGEST LIAR OF THE YEAR, no one wants her around either.

What? Groundswell tea-party malcontents in one of the reddest states in the nation don't want the First Lady to come speak to their kids? I am shocked. Shocked I say.

  4. GOP = Greed Over People

First fact, Ms. O is not a politician. A politician must have held or currently holding a public office. Even if you include wannabe politicians(formerly known as candidates) Ms. O still does not qualify.

The only example of a politician using children as a political prop, was the tundra temptress when she trotted out her special needs child all swaddled to look like the baby Jesus, to add to the "Halo effect" of righteousness, when she was running for Veep!

Second, Ms. O is a figure head of government, as all First Ladies have been since the beginning of time. Yet, no complaints when Babs flew to prayer breakfasts or Laura visited school libraries for her "read" campaign, but let this FLOTUS give a commemorative speech on the anniversary of desegregation, and the GOP is up in arms over the money spent and size of her security force?

NOW, I see the diff, THIS FLOTUS is BLACK!

    Silly, me.

ThinkAgain: Don't like Congress? Get rid of the repub/tea bag majority.
Mrs. Obama brings a security detail; she has no control over how many press choose to attend.

What total BS. Of course she can control what press is there. They do it all the time. The press has coimplained repeatedly about being excluded from events. And ne would hope the security detail isn't sitting next to each and every familiy member. They would be surrounding her.

She accommodated the request because she DOES put the students first.
If you actually read the article, you'd know that. Instead, you choose to take a swipe at the First Lady.

No, she did not accomodate the request to not interfere with the number of familiy allotted seats. She made alternate arrangements and she will not use the commencement to give her political speech.

Why do the Obamas have to use kids and schools for their political propaganda? They are essentially hostages, props for them. Why can't they hold open public events so they can see what the country truly thinks of their views?

You know, I often ask the same thing about Governor Walker, whose "public" appearances here in Wisconsin take place almost exclusively at privately owned businesses, during work hours, in front of a crowd of employees who look like their jobs depend on their being there (the business owner is almost always up front next to Gov. Walker, smiling broadly for the cameras). At least the school kids might get something from seeing the First Lady speak. All the workers seem to be getting from Governor Walker is the shaft. Not that he would ever bother to ask, forget about listen.

No very doubt, the man whose daughter handed the First Lady his resume, is in his 50s which is the ONLY reason WHY he's been unemployed for 3 years. It has finally come full circle right back into the hands of the President, only few realize this historic significance. Age Discrimination is rampant, unchecked, and accountable for by 1000s of companies who hide behind the EEO Statements of "regardless of age" as only their CYA measure. Why? Because there is no measurable accountability program in place where employers have to show cause and proof, as to why the 40+ to 50+ applicants were passed over. Often, and always, to a younger applicant with only half the business-impacting experience, if that at all! Tens of thousands remain unemployed, and never will be employed, in this age group: a major killer to a hoped-for economic turnaround – and no one, not even our own President, is addressing nor even acknowledging this fact by act, by speech by program. You want to change the economy? Hire the unemployed!

Donna asked where are the facts. That is hilarious. Coming from someone whose posts are devoid of any facts.

Two states to be removed from my list of possible visits: Georgia, and Kansas. Both are as backward as humanly possible, without setting up living quarters in caves. Weird as it seems, I don't like being surrounded by people wearing guns, and I don't care for racist masquerading as people.
