First lady receives plea from daughter of unemployed man

Washington (CNN) - The children of Executive Office employees crowded into the East Room of the White House on Thursday to ask first lady Michelle Obama a question as part of the White House’s annual celebration of Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

While most children used their question to ask Obama about her favorite food or drink or place to travel, one young girl seated in the front row took the opportunity to try to help her unemployed father.

“My dad's been out of a job for three years and I wanted to give you his resume,” the young girl quietly said, before handing the first lady a folded piece of paper.

Taking the paper, Obama hugged the little girl and whispered something to her away from the microphone. Many of the other children in the audience, unable to hear what the girl had said, immediately asked the first lady what their exchange had been about.

“Well it's a little private, but she's doing something for her dad, right?,” the First Lady said, looking at the girl and holding up her father’s resume. “Got it.”

Obama made sure to grab the piece of paper off the table next to her at the end of the event and give the girl one more hug on her way out.

What the first lady misses

Next up was a young boy named Thomas who asked Obama if she missed her old job.

“I think this is a pretty cool job,” the first lady said, apologizing to her old coworkers for any offense. “But sometimes I miss like a normal life, right? Without security guards. Sometimes I miss being able to walk out the door and go wherever I want to whenever I want to. Sometimes I miss, walking around where nobody even cares whether you're there, right?”

Repeating a variation of a response she’s delivered to similar questions in the past, Obama went on to say that while living in the White House and at the center of the public eye can be trying at times, she “wouldn’t trade it for the world.”

“Sometimes we – me and the President – we dream about sneaking out of the White House and going to have ice cream and nobody really knowing who we are,” she said. “But the truth is I have a really cool job. I mean I get to have an effect on issues that really matter, and there are few jobs in the world that I could say I could ever do that.”

A very sad reality in the jobless Obama stagnation economy. Six years and still record unemployment. And the media has forgotten about it, buries it.

BE CAREFUL....if President Obama tries to help this little girl's father find a job, Rep. Issa will want to hold Congressional hearings on "abuse of power" charges.....

of course she was a plant! by the obama adminstration!! we can now expect an executive order extending unemployment benefits for his entire 8 years in office. his abysmal economic and jobs record demands extreme action. it is simply not fair that millions have been unemployed for so long because of obama's incompetence.

But, but, Tampon Timmie was bragging about all of Obama accomplishments one of which was 5.2 million jobs! How can this poor guy be unemployed for 3 years when things are going so WELL?!! Of course, in a normal economy we would have created 20 million jobs, not a paltry 5 million in the sane time frame.

It is clear this little girl and her father are making this up and are liars. Let lose the dog from Nevada, Harry Reid, on her and her lying father.

Why didn't this poor guy get one of those "shovel ready" jobs Obama borrowed trillions to create?

Why doesn't he apply to the IRS and NSA? With the election coming up, the Obama adminstration will need to ramp up on the voter suppression, intimidation and harrassment of politcial opponents like they have done in the last two elections.

Antoinette D- Unemployment is lower now. 5.4 million jobs have been added, but that would have doubled if Boehner had brought the bipartisan senate jobs bill to a vote in the house. Not a single jobs bill passed in the worthless house, because gutting regulations does not create jobs.

Donna – the stimulus was closer to $800 billion, a third of which went to payroll tax cuts. Republicans voted for TARP, but against the stimulus, proving once again, the GOBaggers support big banks, not working Americans.

Sorry, I should have said the republican bill in the house does not create jobs, just guts regulations.

Well, after 6 years of Obama "trying" and three years of his unemployment, it sure looks like he needs Obama to stop trying the same old thing and try something else because it ain't working.

Maybe this guy could be Obama's personal caddy? Plenty of demand there!

Are you for real Donna? Who has been gerrymandering and changing voter requirements under the guise of voter fraud all across the country? Republican control stste governments. As for the shovel ready jobs. Proposed by the president. Never got past the house. As for jobs. Where are the jobs Bohner was on about during the election. He seems to be all talk no jobs. He had enough time to pass almost not more than 60 bill to defund or change the ACA.

But Obama utilizes schools and young kids almost exclusively. If he stopped using these kids, he'd have to appear in front of adults, most of which don't buy into his BS and lies.

Uh, how about blaming the worthless congress for not passing a single worthwhile bill to stimulate job growth? Not the president's fault that congress is made up of whiny kindergarten level brains who only work 100 days per year, make hundreds of thousands, and get nothing done. You want action, get the repubs off the ACA bull and onto actual legislation. That would be a true miracle.

Of course it is. But not because more people have jobs and all of the unemployed are back to work. It is lower for one reason, countless millions have stopped looking for jobs and dropped out of the workforce. If the workforce was the same size as it was when Obama took office, the unemployment rate would 10-11%.

The lies of the Democrats and their lying supporters is painfully obvious to those looking for jobs.
