Palin: ‘Waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists’

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a capacity crowd at a National Rifle Association rally how she would baptize terrorists if she was an elected official.

“If I was in charge,” Palin said Saturday in Indianapolis, “they would know, waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who ran against then Sen.-Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with Palin as his running mate, has spoken out against waterboarding, calling it illegal and ineffective. During the Vietnam War, McCain endured years of torture and imprisonment as a prisoner of war under the North Vietnamese.

In her speech, Palin also said the Washington insiders who called the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood a case of workplace violence “don’t know what is right.” That shooting was carried out by Maj. Nidal Hassan.

“Not when that evil Muslim terrorist Major Hassan massacres his fellow military soldiers at Fort Hood,” she said.

Characterizing Hassan, “that devil” as a ‘disgruntled employee,’” is hypocritical, said Palin.

Palin called liberals hypocrites for their stance on issues varying from gun control to torture at the NRA event that was part of the organization’s 2014 convention.

But she backtracked later, saying, “Not all intolerant anti-freedom leftist liberals are hypocrites.”

“I’m kidding,” she said. “Yes, they are.”

Palin told the crowd that “guys like” Sen. Al Franken and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “are not satisfied with just taking your money and your job and your truck and your property and your rights and your healthcare. Those Democrats trying to get all ‘Pelosi’ on ya, and you’re not gonna have it!” she said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Palin accused the Democrats of pursuing “policies that poke our allies in the eye and coddle adversaries instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies.”

She ended her speech by telling the crowd that the bracelet she wears celebrates the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791.

“It’s why we’re here, to celebrate and confirm that solemn oath to liberty,” she said.

As an Independent voter, back in the running for the 2008 election, I liked what I heard from Barak Obama, but as an Independent I sincerely believe in a three party system (at minimum). At that time, we had Democrat led Senate and a Democrat led House. Putting a Democrat in the the Executive brand would place only one political party in charge with carte blanch to do whatever the wanted.

My other option, other than voting for Mickey Mouse, was John McCain, who selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. I had never hear of her in my life, but since she was a Governor and a female, I had hopes that a Republican might win the Presidency., thus at least one of the three branches of government was shared. I quickly learned that Sarah Palin in no way was ready to be thrust into the political garbage that goes on between the two parties. She was not ready, was not prepared, nor ready for the onslaught she received.

I have watched and read about Palin. I do agree with some of the things she says and supports, but In my personal opinion, but other things she says, like this one, absolutely not. She is still not ready for any political office.

Sad, just sad that this is one of the loudest voices of a political party that America needs to be able to take seriously. The woman is an unending gusher of inflammatory snark. My cat is more presidential than that.

"Sarah Palin is why the rest of the world hates us."

Yup – instead of blaming folks like Bin Laden for retailiating againest Americans, think about neo-cons like Palin and Bush and you begin to understand the motivation for terrorism.

Right wing domestic terrorists like Palin and the ignorant racist rancher and the nba nazi owner are America's biggest threat. By a long shot!

I can see how that water-boarding phrase would appeal to her small-minded followers, but the sheer immaturity for someone who once aspired to high office numbs the mind.

Waterboarding is how we test people to see if they are witches.
We keep waterboarding them until they confess, which proves they are a witch.
Sometimes it is hard to get the witch out of them, so it takes longer, up to years.

She's an embarrassment to Republicans, and an embarrassment to Christianity. Though, to be fair, Republicans were doing quite well being an embarrassment to Christianity herself. All of them, if they get around to actually reading the bible, should take special note of where Christ says "love your enemies" as opposed to "torture your enemies".

Other than being a gold mine of comedic fodder nobody takes this caricature seriously. Even the comedians seem to be tired of her as the jokes are akin to shooting fish in a barrel. The fact media attention can still stir emotions indicates some people need to lighten up and let this hack of a politician go back to where both she and Bachmann belong: well deserved oblivion.

Is she even aware that we prosecuted Japanese officers for waterboarding our POW's? Is she aware that it's the GOP who is trying to take away the healthcare that President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi secured for millions of Americans? I don't think she's that stupid. She just knows her audience is.

Her special brand of hate speech isn't good for America, nor for our political discourse. She's caused enough damage, no? I really wish the media would just stop reporting on her.

Everyone that complains about Palin is just feeding into her. Every time you laugh at her, she is simply laughing back at you, all the way to the bank.
She has made a pretty good living off the Dems so far. LOL

BREAKING NEWS: Sarah Palin isn't making a thin dime off of Democrats. She's bought and paid for by conservatives.

Who needs Republican presidential debates for right wing entertainment when they keep hosting these types of events every few weeks?

Stay classy Sarah. This from the mother who has raised her children, and now grandchildren, to use the F bomb as needed. What happened to the GOP? They used to have high standards and class, but now seem to appeal to the least dignified and sophisticated in America. The Palin's epitomize a lack of class and dignity. Where's the substance beyond bullying and name calling? It's tired Sarah. You appeal to the lowest common denominator and make public discourse UGLY.

Oh, the poor terrorists! How dare Sarah speak so crudely!

She needs to travel around the world, apologize for the United States' actions, and call acts of terrorism "workplace violence". After all, that has obviously made the world so much safer!

You tell from the comment stream that the Left fears Palin's threat to their way of life (leeching basically). The more threatening the candidate, the more critical the rhetoric.

I love all these articles that get the left in a tizzy. Even if the purpose is to distract from this utter disaster of a presidency.
