Palin: ‘Waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists’

(CNN) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a capacity crowd at a National Rifle Association rally how she would baptize terrorists if she was an elected official.

“If I was in charge,” Palin said Saturday in Indianapolis, “they would know, waterboarding is how we baptize terrorists.”

Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who ran against then Sen.-Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, with Palin as his running mate, has spoken out against waterboarding, calling it illegal and ineffective. During the Vietnam War, McCain endured years of torture and imprisonment as a prisoner of war under the North Vietnamese.

In her speech, Palin also said the Washington insiders who called the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood a case of workplace violence “don’t know what is right.” That shooting was carried out by Maj. Nidal Hassan.

“Not when that evil Muslim terrorist Major Hassan massacres his fellow military soldiers at Fort Hood,” she said.

Characterizing Hassan, “that devil” as a ‘disgruntled employee,’” is hypocritical, said Palin.

Palin called liberals hypocrites for their stance on issues varying from gun control to torture at the NRA event that was part of the organization’s 2014 convention.

But she backtracked later, saying, “Not all intolerant anti-freedom leftist liberals are hypocrites.”

“I’m kidding,” she said. “Yes, they are.”

Palin told the crowd that “guys like” Sen. Al Franken and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “are not satisfied with just taking your money and your job and your truck and your property and your rights and your healthcare. Those Democrats trying to get all ‘Pelosi’ on ya, and you’re not gonna have it!” she said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Palin accused the Democrats of pursuing “policies that poke our allies in the eye and coddle adversaries instead of putting the fear of God in our enemies.”

She ended her speech by telling the crowd that the bracelet she wears celebrates the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791.

“It’s why we’re here, to celebrate and confirm that solemn oath to liberty,” she said.

The thing with Palin: I was happy to see McCain pick her as a running mate...all well and fine. But the election was over, McCain sucked it up and went back to work. Palin on the other hand just wouldn't go away. It's almost as if she knows football as well as any man...the Super Bowl comes and goes...the team that wins is remembered. Palin didn't win and still wants to be remembered. Stand up, say your piece, then sit back down and stay quiet. I wish more politicians would use that approach.

People actually pay to listen to palin? She has the best scam going! Gets paid to do absolutely nothing but spout nonsense. Parents could rent out their 6 month old babies to do the same thing. And the babies would make more sense! At least to the people who actually pay to listen to a person with no functioning brain cells.

Almost the worst thing that could happen would be for her to get the nomination. Would she energize the base, yes, but would lose almost all of the moderates and independents in the process. The base is about 10% just like the base of the democrats. Most voters are not far right or far left. That would be like the democrats nominating Al Sharpton which would cost them the election. About the only thing worse would be Ted Cruz.

Palin remembers the Fort Hood shooting.. because it was done by a "terrorist Muslim" but somehow she forgets to call the NRA supporter who shot up the kids and Sandy Hook???? Interesting.

Ms. Palin says that watreboarding is how we "baptize" terrorists. Does that mean that terrorists beheading people is just how they sermonize combatants in their minds?

This is just another example of how Sarah Palin is not ready for prime time. Her remark is off-base on so many levels. 1. Churches do not baptize people to get information out of them; they baptize people who want to become Christians. 2. By definition, Musilim terrorists don't want to become Christians. 3. The remark insults non-Christians (and Christians, actually) without the possibility of getting anything in return. 4. Water boarding doesn't work as a way of getting (true) information anyway. So what is her actual point?

Not sure who is more gullible and stupid, the author or some of those commenting. As someone else commented, people need to learn to take jokes.

Once again, Palin demonstrates that there is no permanent final low for her. She can always get lower. She does serve a useful purpose, though. She and revolting racists like Bundy remind us of who and what we're voting for if we vote for Tea Party conservatives.

Palin's the Honey Boo Boo of politics. At least she's good for a laugh. Nobody could possibly take her seriously. I lost all esteem I had for John McCain when he attempted to foist her on the country.

How about we waterboard Palin? Oh, that's right. Based on her claim about using waterboarding you have to have some intelligence that would be worthwhile.
Would there be any need to know anything that resides in her head? It would be just a waste of water.

Palin is a nasty ignorant person. Ship her back to Alaska and hope they keep her there. Can't believe she is still spilling out her hatred.

In the case of Major Hassan they called it workplace violence so they could try him under the UCMJ. It will be easier to get a death sentence. That's all.
