White House sets out looming climate risks for U.S., calls for 'urgent action'

Washington (CNN) – Flooded rail lines. Bigger, more frequent droughts. A rash of wildfires.

Those are some of the alarming predictions in a White House climate change report released Tuesday, part of President Barack Obama's broader second-term effort to help the nation prepare for the effects of higher temperatures, rising sea levels and more erratic weather.

Let me guess, the Republican response will be the White House is just trying to distract attention from Benghazi.

Meanwhile, Faux News has responded to this scientific report by daring meteorologists around the country to ask Obama about Benghazi (I shart you not...they literally did this). At what point will the rest of the MSM have to simply admit that it's all jumped the Benghazi shark? Oh, who am I kidding...the MSM is like watching Super Mario Brothers take place in a shark tank.

Sad to admit it, but the country and the world are already screwed. A planet for your kids and grandchildren you say? More like a wasteland.

we have a far bigger and more immediate disaster to worry about... obama. his endless lies and incompetence are wrecking our country and our economy. i managed to survive the contrived coming of the ice age these same lunatics predicted in the 70's and i'm sure i'll survive their contrived global climate change bs as well. all this is about is attacking fossil fuels and using that as a pretense to further redistribute wealth.

the real answer is to get rid of these far left environmental zealots and start using common sense.

Amazing how the trolls still try to put off climate change. Sad to think what will happen if they win elections. Our children and grand children will suffer. These boneheads couldn't hit water if they fell out of the boat. Vote in the primary's and get rid of these fools and the people that follow them .

I think the WH has been watching "The Day after Tomorrow" over and over again. This WH is beyond paranoid. The warming of the planet is much like how a person ages, you can stop it. Seems more like an excuse to regulate and control.

Dead wrong. The aim of this is for government to start taxing more to try and "correct the problem". The problem they made up in order to justify more government intrusion into our lives and to take more of our hard earned money.

"if dems sit on their hands like they did in 2010 and allow the repubs to shut down more of congress,"

If the Dems sit home and allow he GOP/Teatrolls to take the Senate and House then we will spend the next 2 years watching them force Obama to set records for vetoes. It will be a tsunami of hostage taking, brinksmanship, wish-list legislation from them and there won't be a single bill they send to him that doesn't have poison pills and blatant non-starters in it. They'll tack on everything from full repeal of the ACA to massive cuts to SS and Medicare and then say "nope, sorry, either you sign that or we allow the nation to default on its debts and then try to blame you for it...and yes, we're shutting down the gov't until you stop being black. We've had enough of that from you." With both chambers of congress, their continued temper tantrum will gain exponentially more power to harm the US and global economies and they will use it to do so in hopes they can manufacture a historical narrative that lays it all at Obama's feet.

Only if we keep electing liberals and Democrats to office so they can wreck this country. They are well on their way the last 100 years and especially the last 6 years.

"the real answer is to get rid of these far left environmental zealots and start using common sense."

Common sense = listening to scientists who rely on extensive, objectively measurable data and the overwhelming body of scientific knowledge and expertise to inform their analyses and conclusions.

Common sense =/= "nuh uh, it was cold yesterday, so climate change is a hoax."

"I think the WH has been watching "The Day after Tomorrow" over and over again. This WH is beyond paranoid. "

Right, because it's the WH that's saying things like "this is all a big conspiracy to redistribute wealth and raise our taxes."

You know, Republicans used to act like they believed in science and climate change. Everything was fine right up to the point when it meant environmental regulations, which is when the greed instinct kicked in. Yes, the greed instinct. Everything that Republicans say and do all boil down to one prevailing motive, greed.

Why are Republicans so "concerned" about debts, taxes, and deficits? Greed. They have expressed concern for the future the generations, their children and their children's children. If that were truly their concern, then shouldn't they be concerned about the state of the environment that we leave behind for future generations? Yeah, they should, but they're not. Greed is the only explanation for what might seem to be a hypocrisy in their positions on these two issues.

Climate change will be ignored until Wall Street is under water after the next mega storm. Nothing motivates for action until
after the disaster, and then still not much happens in this country. Gun control is a classic example..

Let's see.... first the far left makes up the crisis of 50 million people not having health insurance and uses it as an excuse to wreck and takeover the healthcare industry in this country. They barely have a few million signing up. Where are the other 40-45 million people that had this crisis? They DON'T EXIST.

Now the far left cranks up the fantasy-lie machine once more for their next disaster to inflict on us. Oil is bad and must be taxed out of usage and existence. Like Obama infamously stated...."the cost of electricity necessarily sky rocket".

The far left Democrats has become the greatest danger to this country and its future. AQ is a distant second to them.

Pres.Obama will draw the line, by telling China and India to quit using coal fired plants, who's emissions are drifting to the US and around the world. Problem solved.

@Donna "the far left makes up the crisis of 50 million people not having health insurance"
    -------–
Actually many responsible polls including Gallup put the percent uninsured at a high of 18% (50 million) and it has dropped down to 13.5% since ACA. That is not made up. Those are actual people. It might be a good idea to fact check. I mean – everyone else can.
