I will love to see Senator Amy Klobuchar run for POTUS. However I doubt if she would. But she'd make one heck of a good VP.

  2. Huh?

These female politicians who are trying to establish their feminists credentials over this issue need to tone down the rhetoric. If the American military gets involved in this mess it will be male soldiers who will bleeding and dying, not females.

Abhorrent events have been occurring in various countries in Africa forever.
This is one of them. However, I am not convinced that we need to send our worn-out troops anywhere, any time soon.
Our military has given, and given and given, then they come back home and the same Republicans that want to send them out again to risk their lives give them the proverbial boot.
I realize that there are congresswomen on both sides of the aisle asking for US intervention.
I suggest that we lend them search and rescue technology, or that we serve as behind the scenes advisors to whatever team the Nigerians have put together. Or perhaps we can loan them tracking devices.
My point is that if we decide that our "moral imperative" compels us to actively asist in locating these girls we should do so in a way that will not put our men and women in uniform in jeopardy.
Additionally, it seems to me that the Republicans have spent 6 years praying and hoping to get us in an international skirmish that might escalate into another war for us.
We're dealing with extremist groups that wish our downfall from within and outside our borders.
Let's bear that in mind before we go jumping into anything.

It's my understanding that another mass kidnapping of young girls has taken place in Nigeria within the last 24 hours.

I would like to observe that there's a lot of oil in Nigeria....but only dirt, dust, and misery in Darfur....

Amy Klobuchar generally stays out of the public forum. Perhaps it would be best if she continued that practice.

If the Nigerian government, who is right there looking already, doesn't know where the girls are, how would the American military know where to begin to look? I think it is highly likely that most of the young girls have been sold off as brides, which could mean that they may not still be in Nigeria.

There are a great many NIgerians living in the VERY, VERY tony towns of Potomac and Chevy Chase Maryland that have dealings and connections with Washington.
This might serve to explain why this particular African tragedy is dominating the headlines, and why our involvement is being commented on and so insistently sought.
As a last aside, boko haram's penchant for using their religion to perpetrate these atrocities is nothing but a front.
The God that Muslims worship is not asking them to kidnap and sell little girls, just like the God that Christians pray to does not tell them to dismember people on a rack, or burn crosses on people's lawns.
    Just sayin...
Let's keep our eyes open. This smells more like a terrorist "hook" to me to get us involved in something that will escalate if we're brought in.

Can you spell "police action"? They have not worked out for us very well in the past. Korea, Viet Nam, and a new one in the making.

This is what I'm saying and suspecting Rudy: this is smelling and looking more and more like a set-up.
Call me paranoid but I 'm of the mind that these boko haram elements are trying to drag the US into something.
Nigeria, heal thyself, we'll help from a far if we can

It is a shame that some people can only see as far as their nose. If this incident was reverse and the kidnappers had taken non-black young women. the scene would have been totally different. The Navy seals or Special forces couldn't have gotten there fast enough. But ii only young African women. What a shame.

Can't we just send Palin over there to make a speech? Or maybe all the Palin voters? Who am I kidding. The boko haram would just start building trailer parks

I do feel confident that our current administration has the ability and fortitude to send in just enough aid, in the form of small but highly trained combat force, to help with this conflict while not making it a protracted engagement. If we are to help the world when they are not asking/wanting help, we had better be damn sure to help when the do want/need the help. We have some of the best troops and technology in the world for this type of engagement, and it will not only highlight our ability to do precision strikes but our humanitarian compassion to help where it is really needed.

america has to be willing if not eager to use militray force when necessary, and this is a good opportunity for america to help when asked while showing restraint and decorum in the use of force. Accomplish the task and shake hands and be done. solidify an ally while not occupying their country for once.

Is there something wrong, oh sage, for asking someone to expand on why they have a certain opinion on someone or something? Stop being so paranoid. And if you got a chuckle from something I said, you're welcome. It's the least I could do to repay you for all of the hilarious fiction you've posted.

Fair, what's the worst that could happen, we elected two oilmen, and war over oil quickly followed.

"Eager to use military force"? Eager? That's crazy talk. You're not getting my vote for a national office.

If I'm not mistaken, America is already providing Nigeria's military with support, which can come in many flavors. They've been doing so since long before these 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped a few weeks ago. Give us one good reason why American armed forces should intervene in someone else's long running civil war. These rival conflicts in Nigeria go back for decades.

  23. it must be said

Maybe we can send an all female assault force in there to get this job done?

After all, nothing says strategic national interests like a few hundred kidnapped girls in the middle of Africa.

Gotta love all these liberal war mongering kooks.

Let the Nigerian police and military forces take care of this local crime issue. As sad as the situation may be, we have no national interests at stake. And if we do go in, all the lefties will scream we are there because of the oil. You just can't win with these clowns.

We have seen time and time again that upgrading military tech in unstable parts of the world is a bad idea. We need to use our tech, and bring it back with us, and let them know we will help again.

We cant just ship them military tech, as that doesnt go away when the current conflict does, and we have seen what happens when the current conflict is over but they are still sitting on massive tech upgrades in unstable parts of the world.
