(CNN) –Ben Sasse, a tea party favorite, has emerged Tuesday as the winner in a crowded GOP primary battle for a U.S. Senate seat in Nebraska.
Sasse will be considered the favorite over Democratic trial attorney David Domina in the heavily Republican state's November general election. The winner of that race will succeed retiring GOP Sen. Mike Johanns.
Nebraska gubernatorial race: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the head of the Republican Governors Association, issued a statement Wednesday congratulating Pete Ricketts on his win for the Cornhusker state's Republican gubernatorial primary, beating out six other candidates.
Complete coverage: 2014 midterms
What's at stake
"The Republican Governors Association is proud to support Pete Ricketts’ campaign and congratulates him on his victory tonight,” said Christie.
As the Republican nominee, Ricketts will go on to face Democratic candidate Executive David Hassebrook and Mark G. Elworth, who is running as a libertarian, in the November 4 general election.
West Virginia House race: Alex Mooney has won in the crowded battle to fill Rep. Shelley Moore Capito's seat in the state's conservative 2nd congressional district.
Mooney beat out six other GOP contenders for the party's nomination and will face off against Democratic candidate Nick Casey.
First woman senator in West Virginia: Capito, who has distanced herself from the tea party, won the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat.
Races to watch: House, Senate, Governor
The seven-term House member will face off against West Virginia Secretary of State Natalie Tennant, ensuring that whoever replaces Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, who is retiring after 30 years, will become the first woman to represent West Virginia in the US Senate.

I wondered where CNN would hide this story.
People are still voting in the tea party? Go figure.
They really didn't win. They actually lost because we say so.
From a democrat.
Great, makes it easier to beat the TPers on election day
The travesty is writers and advertisers have been oyr blinders when we really needed unbiased personal articulation and dialogue on all pressing issues. The array of loaers the Gop and The democrsts are pushing really brings the us political biil to a head...the media is the putrid after effect.
What we need is a womens party. WE SURE DONT NEED BUSH PERRY Obama ir anyone who thinks it is okay to give our country away.
As far as what citizens should do..vote out the ones who want amnesty and gay narriage. If you dont understand why you sho hi l dc nt support amnesty 1) they all lie cheat snd ste as l wi th h a dmile while you believe their pity party....2) there are 700 illegsls l babies born at FT WORTHD COUNTY HODPITSL PET MONTH..IT IS USUAllY DOUBle thas t at dallas major county hosp known as Parkland...all
CNN fails to mention Mr. Sasse was endorsed by Sarah Palin. No surprise. CNN defends Hillary Clinton from 'brain injury attack by Karl Rove, but had no problem when Pres. Obama supporters made a movie suggesting Sarah Palin is 'mentally unstable'.
Americans can really be stu pid!
The tea party rises.
The people are speaking. They are tired of the lies and deceit. This is just the beginning.
One win in one state is not a mandate for a victory lap around the White House. If they win several states, then we can all start to worry about the state our country will be in, a few years from now. We may all have to migrate back to England, to get our freedoms back.
"They say informally, “’If you decide to do it, good luck. We think you’ll be great,’” Christie said, noting he recently returned from an RGA trip to Maine.
He said he enjoyed the trip and “ate a lobster roll on the way out.”
Another "oh cool" GOPerville informational to add to the already mountain of GOPerville candidate wannabee information:
Joni Ernst castrates a pig. Ted Cruz pets a tail wagging pig. Rand Paul dresses up in a baseball uniform. Chris Christie ate a lobster roll.
From the article:
"Ben Sasse, a tea party favorite, has emerged Tuesday as the winner in a crowded GOP primary battle for a U.S. Senate seat in Nebraska"
And further down in the article:
"Capito, who has distanced herself from the tea party, won the GOP nomination for a U.S. Senate seat in WVA."
So .... I'm guessing two Republicans won these two Republican nominations after all.
Call it a draw and move on.
Well Ted I'm sure it's on page 1 at Faux.
Typical Commie News Network reporting....
"Capito, who has distanced herself from the tea party, won the GOP nomination"
God pls help out in dis
Perhaps the tea partiers won't be so happy when they discover that Mr. Sasse called Mitch McConnell after his win to offer his support. Everything is never as black and white as people like to believe. Let's all hope that Mr. Sasse is more concerned with getting something done instead of bringing another "just say no" vote to Washington.
Pain, anguish, and nothing in return from dumbocrats and repubs lately. Time for a new flavor. Couldn't possibly be any worse. Congrats, Nebraska! I hope this is wildly successful and sets a new precedent. Best of luck!
CNN is not the problem, the republicon/teaparty is the problem
Just funny..people are voting for people who are taking away their unemployment cash..food stamps..not creating jobs telling people that 'love is all you need..cheering them on everywhere..the people have nothing!!!!! They go back to their cush lifestyle..people have nothing..struggling!!
People actually decided not to be Political Party Cheerleaders or Spectators to elect one of their own.
The more tea party and GOPer's take control of this country, the more I fear for the future of this country. There like a scary horror movie.
Let's investigate the GOP for a moment:
1. The GOP House tried to cut $300 million from embassy security, just prior to Benghazi
2, The GOP conveniently ignores 14 separate Benghazi's under Bush
3. The GOP conveniently ignores 398 killed overseas under Reagan
4. The PATHETIC GOP is raising election cash exploiting 4 dead Americans while investigating??????
5. The GOP DESTROYED the economy under Bush, and has record Senate filibusters & the GOP House has accomplished the LEAST amount of work in 50 years.
Nebraska isn't just red, it is crimson–the color of arterial blood–Ferrari Modena Red–the reddest red that has ever been.
Cheyenne County Nebraska sits between Kimball County and Duel County on the southern border of the Nebraska panhandle, bordering the state of Colorado. Population in 1960 was recorded as 14,828 souls.
In 1964 my mother was the chair of the Cheyenne County Democratic Party. She hosted a primary nominating convention in our living room. All six of the registered Democrats in the county attended.
What do you know I just met a man at the bus stop that is trying to apply for food stamps... And he's white. I guess it's not only blacks looking for handouts.
And what do you know he DIDNT vote for Obama. He doesn't think Obama really won.
