Washington (CNN) – An environmental advocacy group backed by hedge fund tycoon Tom Steyer is set to unleash a seven-state, $100 million offensive against Republican "science deniers" this year, a no-holds-barred campaign-style push from the green billionaire that could help decide which party controls the Senate and key statehouses come November.
The Steyer-backed outside group, NextGen Climate, has billed itself as a progressive, pro-environment counterbalance to the wealthy oil and gas industry - as well as the primary foil to the pro-business Koch brothers and their well-funded conservative donor network.
"He's already attempting to buy the votes of Senate Democrats on Keystone, which will cost America thousands of good-paying jobs."
Thousands of good paying jobs you say? YOU LIE!!!!
-pathetic part is these Republicans do not believe any of the truths other than just looting and sending you to un-needed wars on wrong pretext and Halliburton type contracts. Do they even know India has earth quakes yesterday entire nation showing environment is changing hugely? No. They don't care environment. Don't build new homes, don't cut trees, save wild life for Mother Earth. God bless!!!!
Do we have some Global Warming? Maybe some. Do we have Global Cooling? Maybe some. With the "Heat Wave" we had last Winter it's hard to tell. A story in the Bible told of a King having a dream of seven fat cows and then seven lean cows, if I remember correctly. So he went to a Sage to ask what it meant. He was told he would have seven good years where things would be good and seven years where things would not be so good. So with the last 7 years of things not so good maybe we are in a period of 7 years of things picking up. If not then you were warned !!!
I wonder how much of Steyner's money was stole off the backs of people's 401ks... I wonder how much he stands to make if the government passes all the "Green" Regulations???
Excellent - it would be good to hear a well-funded voice on the other side of this issue. Should be a nice counter-balance to the parade of truly stupid comments from some (but not all) on the right - Mark Rubio talking down climate change, when the very state he represents is sinking!! Loud-mouthed imbeciles like Rush Limbaugh, others - their followers somehow think that a Talk Show host or someone in congress with a political science degree from a no-name school is more of an authority on climate change than a climatologist.
Maybe some of these same people think that "Duck Dynasty" or "Jersey Shore" is intellectual programming. Mr. Steyer - I'm looking forward to your advertising campaign!
Tom Steyer and the Koch Bros.=same thing. People like these mangloids have infected politics. Ban political internet and radio ads and tv commercials and then these fat cats become useless.
That's political and NOT science. There is insufficient reliable opinion in the scientific community that is not being influenced by governments, to know the true extent of the lies on the liberal side, and the denials on the conservative side.
The truth is somewhere in the middle, and although we should be concerned about where mankind is headed, this man is nothing but a political activist, and NOT an advocator of science.
I'm no scientist but it would be nice to hear an actual informative opinion by someone with an actual brain. I do know we've had some extreme weather all over the country. From the droughts in California to the worst winter in almost 100 years here in Michigan. It will be nice to hear from someone not on their knees for the Kochs.
Jay, friend your confusing Romney with Steyer, he didn't make his millions that way, the keystone takes Canadian oil to our gulf, er use our refineries to refine it, and ALL of it is sold to other countries. They have limited their liability in spills, and our prices will go up due to loss of refining capacities. You'd do yourself a favor to do your own research on this, the gop is lying every step of the way on this. Koch brothers are corrupting our politics, and they will make 100,000,000,000 on this, then you'll really see the gop jump through hoops taking your rights away, you can live under the Koch brothers rule then. Why did we need a second study on this, because the first one didn't say what the Koch brothers wanted it to. Wake up already, they want your life to be more difficult.
Dude made all of his money as a hedge fund manager investing in coal. Now he has major investments in alternative energy. Such an altruistic guy. So tell me how this is any different from the Koches? Oh I know, IOIYAD
The same people that believe in an invisible man in the sky do not believe in climate change....and they also believe "The Flintstones" was a documentary. These are the kind of fools that scientists have to dumb down their information for....pretty pathetic in my view.
Oh hey. A billionaire funding pollution control gone wild in America or two billionaires funding loosening restrictions on pollution control gone wild in America?
Yeah. Works for me. And the air I breathe, the water I drink, and food I eat.
