(CNN) – Those who know Eric Shinseki chuckled when their laconic friend began his Army retirement speech in 2003 with this: "'My name is Shinseki, and I am a soldier."
That was pure Shinseki, longtime friend Rollie Stichweh thought.
For any military person to be this inept at managing services for veterans, is imply inexcusable. The things going on, are absolutely criminal.
Fun fact of the day, only 29% of the current Republican members of congress have served in the military. Also, less than 1% of the current Democrat members of congress have served in the military. Maybe this is why are congress is a wreck.
Ever notice that the inept congressional republicans march out and cry about Obama not fixing the VA, yet they offer no solutions for what has been a problem for decades? Fightiting against funding despite the increased demand during our longest republican war is typical of the party of shutdown. There has to be more to the GOP than politicizing for fundraising, but we have not seen it.
Rick -I see you know nothing about Shinsecki. I am not surprised though.
Not every person who's seen combat, make a good leader. When will this nation wake up to this fact? Many of the best leaders ever, never don'ed a uniform of any kind, yet they made excellent use of their time and ability. Grow Up.
This goes beyond partisan politics, its been a wreck for decades, stop pointing fingers, posturing for your superpacs, and just do the right thing for christ sake. How pathetic is our current system, when something so unilaterally agreed on, just can't get improved . How long can we continue to stand still while we watch ourselves lose ground on all other countries, our infrastructures crumble, our rights under attack, but focus on getting more money to the rich, who are enjoying record inequality, all the while crying about how unfair things are, this is insane!
Vietnam- Isn't that the place that George W., Dick Cheney & John Bolton, those "Gonna take down Saddam" Guys NEVER went to ?
I would have thought that the GOP members of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs would have noticed this problem LONG before people were dying while waiting in the VA system.....unless they were preoccupied with more important things like Benghazi...the IRS....or "making sure Obama is a one term president"
