Obama's big environmental move: Demanding power plants cut carbon

(CNN) – President Barack Obama is using his executive authority to take his strongest action yet against climate change - proposing new EPA regulations.

The chief of the Environmental Protection Agency will announce a proposal Monday that would require power plants to cut their carbon emissions by 30% by 2030, a source briefed on the matter told CNN.

Bill from GA, in the Amarillo area, where the cows outnumber the people, the manure from the feedlots is being put in biodigesters and Amarillo is getting the resulting "natural" gas to heat homes. We will see more of this. Meanwhile, it is going to take a long time to get off coal and the regulations need to be in step with technology, not way off in front of it. ALEC needs to be exposed as trying to make solar and wind power not only too costly but even illegal, using huge donations from the gas, oil and coal industries to fund their clean energy attacks by forcing bills through state legislators by buying off politicians wholesale.

What we think is cool is that people can can the freedom to drive whatever they want without a government dictating what they can and cannot drive. Why do Democrats think that forcing everybody to drive a death trap Smart car coffin is cool?

There was a time when Republicans were real "Conservatives" (you know as in to conserve), and were not supporters of gross conspicuous consumption. No one (and certainly not the government) is telling you that you have to drive a Smart (or a smart) car, just that driving a Hummer (or whatever) that uses twice or three times the fuel just because you can afford to is just kind of selfish and gross-and certainly not good for the rest of us trying to be sensible with our resources, but hey, if that's the way you roll...I am sure Exxon is quite happy with your largess.

Well, I don't wanna breathe my air from a mask & I don't wanna drink my water from a flask...wrote these lyrics in 1986! Now we drink water from flasks all the time, to the tune of billions per year! Air, however, won't be so easy to manufacture in easy-to-use containers! Thank goodness we have a President who thinks air should continue to be breathable!!

The story I saw, can't remember where, the entire feedlot was enclosed, to capture the methane. Not yet practical for widespread use, But we Americans don't sit on our hands and say, "It can't be done".

I like the stories of early flight. We came a long way in just a few decades, from 'impossible' to 'awesome!'.

That's the whole point you're missing.
Everybody, Republicans and Democrats and Independents needs to breath air and eat and drink to live.
But Republicans like you don't like to be SURE (as in legally sure) that the air their breathing is in now way toxic/dangerous to their health and that the water and/or food they're consuming is edible/healthy.
The word from the guys that provide it (in the case of food/water) or use it too (in this case) seems to be enough for you.
It's not for me or anyone who DEMANDS clean air/water for him/herself and his/her family.

    Me and my typos...
It's: 'the air they're breathing is in no way toxic/dangerous'...
    Sorry.
