Director of National Intelligence: Bush-Cheney released 171 Gitmo prisoners who returned to battlefield, compared to Obama's 7

(CNN) – Among the many points of controversy to emerge following the swap of five Taliban prisoners for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is the question of whether the five mid- to high-level Taliban fighters will return to the battlefield.

It's really no secret that according to the administration these five – two of whom are wanted by the UN for possible war crimes, including the murder of thousands of Shiites – very well may return to the battlefield.

Boy, I garbled that first post. What difference does it make what Bush/Cheney did? It doesn't change the fact that the critics are arguing hypotheticals, not facts.

The real point is that the prisoners would have to be released at the war's end, anyway. Not ever releasing them, means that the critics are arguing for the war to be sustained indefinitely.

"Seems the republican party and the minions that believe in them need to issue an apology to the American people"

Sure, but first thing's first: they owe Bergdahl, his family and the men and women in our armed services an apology for politicizing the calculus of whether to leave one of them behind. It should be followed by solemn oath never to do so ever again.

And BTW, this is just proof of more MSM journalism failure. These two numbers could have been and should have been found by the very first reporter covering the GOP/Teatrolls' ridiculous partisan tantrum over Bergdahl's rescue.

spike1234 – " Far worse than that, the Obama admin. has funded and armed al queida in Libya and now in Syria "

Far worse than that, W-cheney totally created al queida in Iraq by their illegal invasion. Makes Syria look like a Sunday Picnic. And threw away TRILLIONS of our dollars and thousands of our troops.

    "This is a revelation because?"

Because the GOP/Teatrolls, and therefore the MSM, didn't care at all when Dubya did it 171 times, so it was never really reported on.

"Hey republicans, got any retorts for this. Seems the republican party has much to say except when they get facts thrown at them. Then they get quiet."

How many were the top leadership of the Taliban or wanted war criminals? ZERO. Idiots on the left can't tell the difference between a private and a general or in one case, the head of the Taliban Intelligence.

    Nice try though.

The difference is the prisoners GWB released not nearly as high on the totem pole as the five Obama released. Also, no one objected to the ones Bush released.
@Wake up- The Bush Admin. didn`t throw out a fake BS story about terror attacks. That`s the difference.

Yeah. Took me a minute to check and see if I'd clicked back into CNN or some alternate website calling itself CNN.

    Facts presented as news?

    Can this be?

Is Fox Lite actually evolving into CNN?

This detainee report is a meaningless analysis. First of all, this is apples and oranges until the year 2021 when it will be an even comparison of 12 years tracking prisoners transferred under each administration. Plus under Bush there were more releases because of how many low-risk detainees initially were sent there during the few years following 9/11. What you have left is a smaller overall number, but of higher-risk detainees, so it makes sense fewer transfers take place under Obama.

Yes, I always get my "facts" from those two, but only after I have checked the half wit's FB page for her in depth analysis...

Yikes, I cannot believe I just typed that, even with "snark" turned on!

Agreed. Clearly there is a difference unless you are on the I-have–to-defend-Obama-100% Team.

You're fine with 171 "privates" as you call them, returning to the battlefield? They are the ones who actually go to the battlefield not the "Generals". The privates are the ones who carry guns and attack our soldiers. Thats potentially 171 dead Americans. Really though, nice try

Proofs that none of those 171 either was or became 'nearly as high on the totem pole', please.

Have any of you who keep shrieking about these being such "high ups" checked them out. Obviously not. Most were civilians , one a police official, only one was in any way connected with AQ fighters. Educate yourselves and quit spewing the GOTP garbage. The ONLY reason there is so much objection to this is because Obama did it.. Just like everything else.
