Who wants Cantor's leadership job?

Updated 6:18 p.m. ET, 6/11/2014

(CNN) – Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas said he's planning to run for the House Majority Leader position, as Rep. Eric Cantor is expected to vacate the job on July 31.

Sessions, who chairs the House campaign arm known as the National Republican Congressional Committee, told reporters on Wednesday he will compete for the job.

5 aftershocks from Cantor's stunning upset loss

Following Cantor's stunning primary loss Tuesday, a senior GOP source tells CNN the Virginia congressman plans to relinquish his leadership position at the end of next month.

The House GOP conference will meet on June 19 behind closed doors and hold election for majority leader, at which time members will cast secret ballots.

While House GOP Whip McCarthy hasn't officially announced he's seeking the spot, many members believe he's the frontrunner.

Other names that have been floated as potential replacements include Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and Georgia Rep. Tom Price.

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who chairs the House Republican conference and is the top woman in GOP leadership, was also considered a possible contender, but she said Wednesday she won't seek the position.

"After much encouragement from my colleagues, conversations with my family, and many prayers, I have decided to remain Conference Chair at this time," the Washington state congresswoman said.

Georgia Rep. Tom Price would make a great replacement.

He is a shallow, butt kissing weasel who can appeal to extreme righties, sensible moderate conservatives, illiterate biker-types or soccer mom suburbanites. He's whatever you want to think he is. Long as you are mostly conservative.

In other words: A Great Republican!

WTH is with all the "I don't do or say anything unless I've prayed about it" crap these conservatives are always spewing? I'll tell you: it's a pre-emptive strike to let you know that if you attack anything they said or decided after their direct-line Batphone-style conversations with God, who clearly is paying close attention to their every word and advising them about what's right and what they should do and say, then you are actually questioning God and attacking their religion...because they talked to Him, and he obviously endorsed what they're doing and saying. Yuck.

Rep. McMorris Rodgers (no hyphen) has issues of her own ... so, yeah ... she's an unlikely contender.

Direct line to God? In their heads maybe. But, yeah. What you said: yuck. And no. I don't question God when these folks pimp Him for the sake of voter appeal. I question those doing the pimping.

GOPerville could and should learn the difference.

I hate that too. What she means is that I am going to lightly endorse the Christian Theocracy take-over movement, without actually admitting it. Why are these radical Christians afraid of saying what they want? Because the Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves.

Well, she (and others) are going to have a hard time explaining to me that they've (well ... she, in this case) have spent the past 24 hours in prayer with God trying to decide should she, or shouldn't she seek Cantor's yet to be vacated chair.

Sorry for rambling, my point is the people of this country have to truly unite, somehow, some way, and stand up for better systems that we all say we want.. It is the only recourse.

Now do you understand why Bush senior didn't want to invade Iraq . Dose it ever accrue to you we support regimes that profit by losing , Diem and his successor in South Vietnam , Hamid Karzai and his brother in Afghanistan , Ahmed Chalabi and Jalal Talabani or Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of Iraq .

They can fail , accumulate incredible wealth and then abandon ship and go live in Europe like kings , laundering there money though Dubai .

Don't blame Obama my friend , until America only supports those willing to sacrifice there own lives for there own sovereignty and freedom in there own homeland . It's a loosing game for America , we end up with refugees overflowing from countries we destabilized . Do you remember when GW Bush told the American people that Iraq would pay us back economically for bring freedom to there country ,
