Obama order would ban contractor bias based on sexual orientation

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama will sign an order barring federal contractors from discriminating against employees "on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity."

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Monday that specifics "are still being finalized," but the order would "build upon existing protections" around race, ethnicity and religion for those employed by entities doing business for the government.

Earnest declined to say when Obama would sign the order but said he has been consistent on anti-discrimination measures.

Earnest said Obama has been waiting for Congress to approve anti-discrimination legislation, which remains stalled, and decided to take steps on his own.

"The President is not just going to wait around for Congress to take action." Earnest said.

Obama's action does not preclude Congress from approving its own proposals.

This should have been a no-brainer for Congress. House GOP members find nothing wrong with discrimination.

When you talk about the morons in the Republican, maybe we need to look at the morons in the Democratic Party also who refused to challenge her positions at all especially VP Biden. The Liberal Press are the one selling Hillary and hope her over exposure be her ill-doing. The same press promoting her can also do her in. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Racial and sexual orientation issues fall within Obama's comfort zone. He is way out of his league on foreign and economic policies. For our sake, he should stay out of those matters before he gets us to the point of no return. (If we're not there already.)

If the congress really wants to find these "lost e-mails" it's quite simple. Give Ed Snowden a full pardon , a hero's welcome home and some money for his troubles. In return Mr. Snowden will find the materials. The monkeys who claimed to have lost the e-mails are too dumb to have erased them properly. If Mr Snowden is not only brought back to do the job but given access to NSA tools he will definitely find them.

That "feel good stuff", as you so eloquently put it, is what effects us, here and now, in this country, directly. It also has no baring, at all, on foreign relations or policies.

who cares as long as the federal govt doesn't tell us who to hire and shows preference to anyone. Most of Americans would hire based on ability and ability alone. Now, obama get off the golf course and do your real job… after all in spite of being black, colluded with communists, and having no resume' for the job…we elected you…so, do it!

Sounds good but isn't needed. In government contracting there is very little discrimination, at least in the beltway, for any reason, since talent and productivity reign especially among young professionals. There are probably a few holdouts, but they are a dying breed.
