(CNN) – Sarah Palin said President Barack Obama's inaction over the escalating crisis on the southern border is grounds for impeachment.
The Republican firebrand wrote in a an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative website Breitbart that "(Obama's) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

Calls for impeachment are coming from the President's harshest critics on the right and have intensified over the new immigration crisis. However, such a step is far-fetched, especially with Democrats currently in control of the Senate.

In the blistering op-ed, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee accuses Obama of intentionally allowing immigrants into the United States, hampering American job opportunities.
"President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here," she wrote.
"It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment."
Asked Wednesday about Palin’s comments, House Speaker John Boehner simply said, “I disagree.”
Pressed about others in his own House Republican conference that support impeachment, Boehner repeated, “I disagree.”
Republican opposition flares
Palin, who still remains popular and influential with tea party activists and others on the right, is hardly the first conservative to accuse the President of unlawful activity.
But her pointed call for Obama’s impeachment adds a high-profile voice to the crowd of Republicans pushing for congressional action over what they view as an overreach of executive authority.
Key races to watch in 2014
Mike Huckabee also leveled heavy criticism at the commander in chief as a wave of illegal immigrants overwhelm federal facilities along the southern border.
In a statement Tuesday as Obama headed to Texas for a Democratic fundraising event, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate – who's mulling another bid in 2016 – slammed the President for not planning to visit the border during his trip to the Lone Star state.
"While tens of thousands of illegal immigrants storm across the border, the President is jetting off to Texas - but not to see first-hand the mess his policies have created, but to attend high-dollar dinners with the 'swells' and extract as much money as he can from some people who got rich on the very oil he despises," Huckabee said.
Huckabee did not call for Obama’s impeachment over the border crisis but has predicted in the past that Obama would be ousted from office because of the 2012 attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.
Political tensions in Texas
Palin and Huckabee's sharp language comes as Obama requested nearly $4 billion in emergency funds from Congress to better respond to the influx of immigrants illegally crossing the border into Texas.
The state's governor Rick Perry, who ran for president in 2012 and is considering launching another bid in 2016, refused to greet the President at the airport and instead called for a meeting to discuss the immigration crisis.
Perry later accepted the White House's invitation for the Republican governor to meet with Obama in Dallas.
Republicans and even some Democrats contend Obama isn't doing enough to quell a surge of undocumented immigrants from Central America.
Critics say the administration invited the problem by halting deportations of some young immigrants who came to the country illegally in past years.
CNN's Paul Steinhauser, Tom Cohen, and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

we need voting reformation law..... place "none of the above" on all ballots in each office. if "none of the above" wins, we vote again and none of the people on the previous ballot are able to run again for that election.
it is getting difficult for me to vote for the least miserable candidate. our choices are so slim that only idiots whom have connections with money can get elected. vote NONE OF THE ABOVE will let them know that they cannot win an election just because all of the other candidates are a poorer choice then them.
this sounds a bit silly, but I think it would actually work by letting the politicians know that they cannot become elected just because everyone else is worse then them.
I'm sorry but she's got to be the dumbest chick walking.
A joke that would be funny, if not for the cretin delivering it. Apparently, this poor excuse for a human being has not one shred of dignity, nor shame. She is one of our nations biggest liabilities, without a doubt.
Palin opens trap, nonsense pours forth. This is news?
Isn't her 15 minutes of fame up yet?
U go Palin...I am sick of ignorant people. These bashers probably dont even live in Texas where there are millions of illegals that have set up shop on every street corner that can not speak English. But they are the same idiots that voted for Obama, not once, but twice. Its time to wake up America, we are losing this country. Our fore fathers from the alamo are rolling in their graves.
luvUamerica: Palin needs to keep her mouth shut, but I wouldn't say the Republicans are getting more desparate. There's a good chance come elections that they will have majorities in both houses and that is a telling sign of waning support for the president and his party.
We should really take political advice from someone who is wearing that t-shirt!
It however is unclear if Sarah Palin KNOWS what impeachment means.
they want to sue the world because everyone is tired of them so they have to make some noise lets ask them to do thier jobs like pass something for the unemployed and no way but hank out money to the Ukrane let me get the check book and a photo op....
A Huckleberry and Palin GOP ticket in 2016 would do a world of good for the USA. It would inject a big dose of humor in a world that has a lot of sadness going on lately. Just think of the possibilities that these two nitwits would offer that would bring smiles to all thinking people everywhere.
Why is this news. Why is this being reported. You might as well make a headline out of whatever any random person on the street thinks. Worse in this case as palin has already proven her opinion is worth less than nothing. She is a mental midget undeserving of news coverage.
I think this has more to do with CNN's sad and desperate attempts to keep ratings while cutting all funding to actual investigative journalism. Why does CNN still exist? Wolf Blitzer can't even read a TelePrompTer.
Why don't they just give UP? He is well into his 2nd term to which he was elected twice. They never wanted him elected in the first place but it's too late. Just let him serve the next two years and then I am just sure they will get their man/woman elected. Oh? Maybe not? Well, if not then they can have fun with name-calling, threats of impeachment, lawsuits, etc with the next one. So boring.
What has he done that is impeachable? Can Palin show that anything he's done is an impeachable offense? Does she even know what that means?
Did she get fired from the Alaskan Bush Company again?? Shut your yap and go away, idiot!
I'm sorry, we just need to turn Congress Red and immobilize Obama. Impeachment would be too destructive on the country.
Why can't someone just stomp on her? Such a useless Mouth
She is without question not only the most irrelavent person in US politics, but the most irrelevant person in the US, she is pathetic and sad and the fact that CNN continues to give her any attention to some degree put them in the same category. YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS CNN!!!!! With all that is happening in our world she should be the last person you give any attention too.
And what planet is she from and what are her credentials to make any garble from her lips seem important lol... put a bag over her head and put her on the next plane to Iraq... the women over there have donned arms... perhaps this lush would fit right in LOL
She only says this stuff so the media will talk about her for a few days. She would rather we call her crazy than irrelevant.
I am a conservative (hesitant to call my self republican based on the actions of some of the figure heads) and I wish she would just disappear. What I don't understand though, is why every time some wack job like her gets up an makes a fool of themselves, so many liberals assume that all conservatives think the same way. Isn't that the same as if all conservatives just assume that everyone on the left thinks exactly the same was as Al Sharpton or Howard Dean?
Sure Sarah.... As soon as you go back to Wasilla, and answer for all the wrongdoing that caused you to quit!
Yah lets all get mad at sarah palin so we can forget about how horrible our government is!
It's only a "crisis" because Fox News and their audience are making it out to be one. So much hypocrisy from that side. They'll beat you down with their religious beliefs and then in their next breath they'll want someone to go hungry because they aren't "American"
Palin thought the queen of England was the ruler. She didn't know who the U.S. fought in WW2 and didn't know what there are a North and South Korea. Look at her eyes they are always glazed with bewilderment that anyone listens to her. She has virtually no idea how the federal government is designed. Anyone who's ever taken a Civics course or an introductory course in government knows more that she does. A parrot can give a speech, know the meaning is a different matter
