(CNN) – Sarah Palin said President Barack Obama's inaction over the escalating crisis on the southern border is grounds for impeachment.
The Republican firebrand wrote in a an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative website Breitbart that "(Obama's) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

Calls for impeachment are coming from the President's harshest critics on the right and have intensified over the new immigration crisis. However, such a step is far-fetched, especially with Democrats currently in control of the Senate.

In the blistering op-ed, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee accuses Obama of intentionally allowing immigrants into the United States, hampering American job opportunities.
"President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here," she wrote.
"It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment."
Asked Wednesday about Palin’s comments, House Speaker John Boehner simply said, “I disagree.”
Pressed about others in his own House Republican conference that support impeachment, Boehner repeated, “I disagree.”
Republican opposition flares
Palin, who still remains popular and influential with tea party activists and others on the right, is hardly the first conservative to accuse the President of unlawful activity.
But her pointed call for Obama’s impeachment adds a high-profile voice to the crowd of Republicans pushing for congressional action over what they view as an overreach of executive authority.
Key races to watch in 2014
Mike Huckabee also leveled heavy criticism at the commander in chief as a wave of illegal immigrants overwhelm federal facilities along the southern border.
In a statement Tuesday as Obama headed to Texas for a Democratic fundraising event, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate – who's mulling another bid in 2016 – slammed the President for not planning to visit the border during his trip to the Lone Star state.
"While tens of thousands of illegal immigrants storm across the border, the President is jetting off to Texas - but not to see first-hand the mess his policies have created, but to attend high-dollar dinners with the 'swells' and extract as much money as he can from some people who got rich on the very oil he despises," Huckabee said.
Huckabee did not call for Obama’s impeachment over the border crisis but has predicted in the past that Obama would be ousted from office because of the 2012 attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.
Political tensions in Texas
Palin and Huckabee's sharp language comes as Obama requested nearly $4 billion in emergency funds from Congress to better respond to the influx of immigrants illegally crossing the border into Texas.
The state's governor Rick Perry, who ran for president in 2012 and is considering launching another bid in 2016, refused to greet the President at the airport and instead called for a meeting to discuss the immigration crisis.
Perry later accepted the White House's invitation for the Republican governor to meet with Obama in Dallas.
Republicans and even some Democrats contend Obama isn't doing enough to quell a surge of undocumented immigrants from Central America.
Critics say the administration invited the problem by halting deportations of some young immigrants who came to the country illegally in past years.
CNN's Paul Steinhauser, Tom Cohen, and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

She needs to sit her dingy but down and shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It must be a Tuesday.
Stock market way up, Dems are partying, when next bear market hits soon enough, things will turn around and the common sense conservatives will be in control again.
Come on, Sarah. At least the others on the impeachment train understand that they first have to make up some phony baloney crimes with which to charge the president. You want to impeach him because... well... I am not even sure. If George W. Bush deported fewer then 2 million illegal immigrants in 8 years and you don't consider that criminal, then, surely, deporting 2 million illegal immigrants and counting over 6 years isn't criminal either. As for the treatment of current "wave" of children crossing the border, you need to look to the people who passed and signed the law requiring that treatment (hint, it was passed by a Republican house and signed by a Republican president), not the president carrying out the law.
Best President of my lifetime.
Health Care for 50 million who were banned. No wars started. Record stock markets. Killed our #1 enemy of all time. NO foreign terrorist attacks on our soil (but plenty of right wing skin-heads killing our citizens).
And most important: Ended 200-300 years of the Rich White Boys club in DC.
Leave the man alone, we knew they were on the way, who need borders,
We need more welfare types,
Social Security is a thing if the past for more than old folks..
Thank you Comedy News Network. Keep giving time to imbeciles, and they will come.
"The Republican firebrand ..."
CNN loses what little credibility it has each time it posts this nonsense (re: Palin). Just saying.
What a moron. Why don't the righties just admit they hate him because he is black and save us all their stupid speeches?
i think Bush's non actions for the new orleans crisis was worse...
Please Sarah kill yourself!! Someone this dumb is not worth living!
Palin should look at herself in the mirror, that's what needs to be impeached. Out of touch with reality. This border crisis has gone on for several presidents. Not much has changed.
It is un-American to allow this to happen and also to support it. Who side are you all on?
Wow, sooo who wants to take bets? Ill bet that 2 more presidential elections will play out, back-to-back, and there wont be a serious Republican candidate @all, (let alone President)
Tee it up. Give the Liberal base something to get fired up about. Let's bring Michelle Bachmann back while you're at it. Keep the Senate Blue!
Come on, people! Why do we have to get updates on the latest lame thought that dribbles from Sarah Palin's mouth? Her opinion is no more informed and no more useful than that of other trumped-up imbeciles like Kim Kardashian.
illegals can't vote. so no, they did not vote for Obama "twice." And most working mexican-american are republicans. (whisper) they are the ones employing the cheap labor and Mexican Americans know this.
Agree with Palin! Fed up with Obama. Do people really not see what a poor president he is?!
Yeah thank God Palin wasn't elected or Romney either for that matter, since Obama and Biden have done such a great job – lmao.
Yeah- Market over 17,000 (my 401 ks are finally back).
More jobs created in 6 years under Obama than under Bush 1 and 2 combined.
Unemployment still goin' down.
2 wars ended (and several avoided).
Biggest corporate profits-ever.
Deficit cut by 70%.
11 million more Americans have health insurance- the largest jump-ever.
Yup, I'm happy
How sad..Palin will go to any length to seem important...she is a pathetic has been...
This sounds like a drastic measure but put together with the rest of his debacles it makes sense to cut our losses and ditch this clown...
"(Obama's) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'" –It's nice to know that the republican party believes battered women are Hispanic. Ignorance has no boundaries.
I wouldn't **** Sarah Palin with YOUR ****
What she really meant to say was "In this t-shirt, I'm a peach".
