(CNN) – Sarah Palin said President Barack Obama's inaction over the escalating crisis on the southern border is grounds for impeachment.
The Republican firebrand wrote in a an op-ed published Tuesday in the conservative website Breitbart that "(Obama's) unsecured border crisis is the last straw that makes the battered wife say, 'no mas.'"

Calls for impeachment are coming from the President's harshest critics on the right and have intensified over the new immigration crisis. However, such a step is far-fetched, especially with Democrats currently in control of the Senate.

In the blistering op-ed, the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee accuses Obama of intentionally allowing immigrants into the United States, hampering American job opportunities.
"President Obama’s rewarding of lawlessness, including his own, is the foundational problem here," she wrote.
"It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment."
Asked Wednesday about Palin’s comments, House Speaker John Boehner simply said, “I disagree.”
Pressed about others in his own House Republican conference that support impeachment, Boehner repeated, “I disagree.”
Republican opposition flares
Palin, who still remains popular and influential with tea party activists and others on the right, is hardly the first conservative to accuse the President of unlawful activity.
But her pointed call for Obama’s impeachment adds a high-profile voice to the crowd of Republicans pushing for congressional action over what they view as an overreach of executive authority.
Key races to watch in 2014
Mike Huckabee also leveled heavy criticism at the commander in chief as a wave of illegal immigrants overwhelm federal facilities along the southern border.
In a statement Tuesday as Obama headed to Texas for a Democratic fundraising event, the former Arkansas governor and 2008 GOP presidential candidate – who's mulling another bid in 2016 – slammed the President for not planning to visit the border during his trip to the Lone Star state.
"While tens of thousands of illegal immigrants storm across the border, the President is jetting off to Texas - but not to see first-hand the mess his policies have created, but to attend high-dollar dinners with the 'swells' and extract as much money as he can from some people who got rich on the very oil he despises," Huckabee said.
Huckabee did not call for Obama’s impeachment over the border crisis but has predicted in the past that Obama would be ousted from office because of the 2012 attack in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.
Political tensions in Texas
Palin and Huckabee's sharp language comes as Obama requested nearly $4 billion in emergency funds from Congress to better respond to the influx of immigrants illegally crossing the border into Texas.
The state's governor Rick Perry, who ran for president in 2012 and is considering launching another bid in 2016, refused to greet the President at the airport and instead called for a meeting to discuss the immigration crisis.
Perry later accepted the White House's invitation for the Republican governor to meet with Obama in Dallas.
Republicans and even some Democrats contend Obama isn't doing enough to quell a surge of undocumented immigrants from Central America.
Critics say the administration invited the problem by halting deportations of some young immigrants who came to the country illegally in past years.
CNN's Paul Steinhauser, Tom Cohen, and Deirdre Walsh contributed to this report.

Someone please exercise their 2nd amendment rights on her, please!
DEAR GOP POLITICIANS,
Please stop with these political stunts before you make the US political arena look like a deplorable circus.
Not only it exposes us to international ridicule, but it endangers our country!
By revealing such a fractured, dirty-tricks-inclined Capitol Hill, you make US seem like an easy target for the foreign powers.
THESE TRICKS HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!
What is extremely interesting is that most of the comments posted are from Palin haters and baseless. They all read her comments and then say CNN is wasting their time and as lame a question – Who is Palin? Someone important?. If that is the case then why you guys waste you time in first reading the article and then taking pains to write a comment too?? The fact is that she is still relevant as whenever she speaks, people sit up and take notice.Wether she is able to make any difference or not, that can be debated.
"Palin calls for impeachment...
POP QUIZ Sarah... spell... Impeachment...
Can't stand Palin but, Obama just keeps giving latinos encouragement with his personal immigration agenda that is completely out of sync with what the majority of American's want.
Wow, is she an idiot. Easy on the eyes, though.
Why are we still giving her any press at all?......are the media masses bored with pertinent current events? stories that are actually relevant?
Yes, just keep showing the world how crazy these people really are, that way they'll stay out of office.
HAHA she's trying to impeach the president over this issue??? This shows the desperation of the republicans. Plain and simple.
Should be impeached for walking away from the job, leaving mountains of items unfinished. Wait... that's Palin I'm talking about.
Can someone please tell he to go away
I call the the immediate deportation of Sarah Palin. In order to impeach a president you need 2/3 of the senates vote.. The GOP dont even have a Senate Majority. Waste of $$ and politicking
In the immortal words of Bugs Bunny, "what a maroon"!
Stop it...you're giving "maroons" a bad name.
Palin needs to STFU. No one cares about her. She is old news. America hates you Palin.
and the right is the party that hates women??? I think not.
Sarah Palin left the governorship of Alaska halfway through her term. The public may never know the real reasons for her departure; but some of us do. She has no future opportunites left in politics, except to preach fear and loathing to anyone who will listen. As George Burns used to say to his wife Gracie at the end of the monologue: "Say goodnight Gracie". So it is for Sarah Palin. "Say goodnight Sarah".
What Ms. Palin has to say would have a little weight with me if she had not cut and run from her position as Governor of Alaska. All she is now is a never-was on the sideshow of America politics wanting the public to feed her ego.
Well, it has been a month since she was in the news. About time she did some self-promoting idiocy.
why is this news?
Palin has spoken...Now its the duty of all conservatives to make it happen ven if they have to give their lives for it.
lets get this ball rolling.screw the president he has done nothing that worth the American people vote
How does this air head continue to get media attention. I can't tell what's worse, hearing the latest on Palin or the Kardashians.
And they liberal attacks on women begin.....
Sure, why not. When you're out of ideas, it's time to bring on the show trials.

The extreme right wing's attack of U.S. democracy continues.
