Shaun Donovan confirmed as budget director

(CNN) - The Senate on Thursday confirmed Shaun Donovan to be the new director of the Office of Management and Budget.

The vote was 75-22 to confirm Donovan to become the next budget chief in the cabinet-level position central to the day-to-day running of the federal government.

Donovan has led the Department of Housing and Urban Development since the beginning of President Barack Obama's administration. On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro to lead HUD.

Donovan will take over the position from Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who led the OMB until Obama in April named her as the next secretary of Health and Human Services. Burwell took over for Kathleen Sebelius, who resigned following the troubled rollout of Obamacare.

CNN Senior Congressional Producer Ted Barrett and CNN's Dana Davidsen contributed to this report.

He looks like an accounting geek but is he a good liar? That is what is most important if you want to serve in the Obama administration.

Hmmm, 2 Obama nominees approved without a filibuster. Must be an election coming.

Rules change. They can no longer filibuster certain types of appointees. We currently have a backlog of nearly 150 appointees that are being blocked in the Senate through the use of the silent filibuster.

I think they should have gotten rid of the silent filibuster, instead of changing the rules. Make someone stand up there sweat it out. Besides, the silent filibuster makes it way possible, and way too easy, for one person to filibuster dozens of items at one time. That's utterly ridiculous. We have three times as many blocked appointees than there are Republicans in the Senate. Who's blocking them? We cannot find out, either. That's not good.

@it must be said, don't say liar, well, liars are Bush, Cheney, and Reagan. They lied on WMD, wrong war, Halliburton contracts, Iran Arms sale. You don't have stand. Yes, because of Obama, now you have Health Insurance. 20 million enrolled and GOP likes ACA Law. This president smart to take the opportunity while both house, senate are in control–since then no new wars. Why not you ask horrible congress to pass JOBS BILL., why not ask to bring manufacture home? Raise minimum wage, taxes on that make 250k or more?

It is still true. The low information right wingnuts usually go off ranting in spite of the facts.
I saw a recent poll that showed a majority of Republicans on ACA insurance are actually happy with it. Will this stop the rightwing low information folks? No. Because they are low info...... you get the idea.
