Rubio calls Clinton 'a 20th century candidate'

(CNN) - Marco Rubio's apparently not so concerned if Hillary Clinton decides to make another run for the White House.

"I just think she's a 20th century candidate," the first-term senator from Florida and potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate told NPR.

"I think she does not offer an agenda for moving America forward in the 21st century, at least not up till now," Rubio said, in an interview with "Morning Edition" that posted early Tuesday.

"The truth of the matter is she was the secretary of state during an administration that has had virtually no successes on foreign policy," Rubio added.

This is far from the first time Rubio's been critical of Clinton's tenure as America's top diplomat.

"First, I think she's going to be asked to account for her time as secretary of state and I don't think it's the sterling success people think it is. Quite frankly, much of the foreign policy failures we see in place today began when she ran the Department of State," Rubio told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in an interview in February on "The Situation Room."

"Should she decide to run for president, Hillary Clinton would present a forward-thinking agenda, one that presents new, bold ideas to keep our country moving in the right direction. With his history supporting the Tea Party’s outdated, regressive policies, Senator Rubio is the one stuck in the stone ages. This is nothing but a desperate attempt by him to divert from his failed legislative record," Adrienne Elrod, communications director at the pro-Clinton rapid response shop Correct The Record, told CNN.

Clinton has said she'll decide on running for the White House by the end of this year or early next year. Rubio, who's also up for re-election to the Senate in 2016, said in the NPR interview that he'd make up his mind by early 2015.

"There's a lot of work to be done if you're going to run for president, or if you're going to run for re-election in a state as big as Florida," Rubio added.

The less decisive she is the lower voters opinions will be of her. People want someone that will make a decision and lead.

"There's a lot of work to be done if you're going to run for president, or if you're going to run for re-election in a state as big as Florida," Rubio added."

In other words, Clinton will be a formidable candidate, and as such, he'll stick with "big Florida".

I found it interesting that Somebody-Please-Give-This-Guy-a-Drink-of-Water Rubio thought it appropriate to equate running for re-election in Florida to running for POTUS.
    Interesting juxtaposition of sorts.
    Good morning my friend.
I had to go home and do some heavy body scrubbing after indulging my "urge to merge" last Friday.

Yeah well your old Grandma Clinton sure showed no signs of wisdom when it came to Benghazi, before, during or after. She's another Obama. She's out jetting around the globe on a 4year vacation, not taking care of business and her gross negligence gets 4 American killed. Sorry, Hillary Clinton's 3am phone call moment came and she failed the test miserably.

Til then , you can follow him on twitter and find true bliss and enlightenment to nowhere .

Rubio's magic trick: the marionette drinks the water while still babbling what the puppeteer is making him say.

I would like to know what Rubio thinks is something that makes a person a 21st century candidate. He wasn't clear then and doesn't seem to offer anything. That seems to be the unfortunate trend of many GOP members of Congress, candidates (current and former) and supporters.

Obama's policies are right out of the 1930s and FDR. WPA projects. Obama and Hillary Clinton have reset Russian relations back to the cold war days of the 1950s. Hilary Clinton is a Grandma stuck in the 1990s. Joe Biden? Not sure what time period he is stuck in as he is not even on this planet most of the time.

Democrats, tired old failed policies for the 21st century? That's what they want America to believe.

As condescending as he is, even HE knew better than to take it that extra step and define his "point" to its narrow conclusion.

His fodder isn't exactly newsworthy or noteworthy to anyone ... least of all Hillary Clinton.

The "21st Century Candidate" is a novel idea and I know who's NOT one – RUBIO! He's such a child, he can't even manage to get a drink of water on camera without looking entirely immature. Rubio; ever heard of Peter's Principle?

Just anything to muddy the water. I'll bet he'd have said something different, if a republican (older than dirt), was running at the front of the pack. He's just another wannabe, from a long, long list of republican wannabe's.

yeah, Funny about that. FDR's policies saved our nation from the last great Republican depression of 1929-, and although far, far smaller in scope, they worked again after the Bush Crash of '08. That's called learning from and using history.

Meanwhile, the GOP? They're looking to refight the Civil War.

  23. The Real Tom Paine

Yes, and Rubio is a wonderful example of a 21st century GOPer: no real moral compass, no values, and no real accomplishments. Can anyone point to a single thing the Cuban Kid has done that warrants him being considered as President, besides belonging to the fastest growing demographic within the Democratic Party? The only reason he's even mentioned is because he's Hispanic, and the GOPers figure this insulates them from the perception that they are a party of old white men.

Whatever happened to those policy debates that we used to have? Cut taxes, or raise taxes? Remember those? Well, I can tell you what happened to them. We were invaded by "Libertarian" extremists calling themselves independents. The are folks who are so far away from what it actually means to be Libertarian, that they couldn't even tell you what it traditionally means.
