Obama lambasts Republicans for ‘hatin’ all the time’

Updated 1:31 p.m. ET, 7/30/2014

Kansas City, Missouri (CNN) – Days before Congress' summer break begins, President Barack Obama used a Wednesday morning speech here to lambast Republicans who are preparing to sue him rather than take action on some of his agenda items.

“Stop being mad all the time,” Obama chided Republicans during rowdy, campaign-style remarks. “Stop just hatin’ all the time.”

Democrats think they've struck fundraising gold with the Republican threat of a lawsuit against the White House, as well as the specter of impeachment some members of the party have raised. Since Friday, Democratic electoral committees sent more than a dozen e-mails using the issues to stir their supporters into donating money.

Top House Democrat: 'you bet we're going to run' on lawsuit and impeachment

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, tasked with electing Democrats to the House, said they'd raised more than a million dollars in online donations using the tactic.

House Speaker John Boehner announced plans earlier this summer to file suit against Obama for circumventing Congress on changes to his health care law, which some Republicans said was unconstitutional.

Obama has slammed the move as a political stunt, egging Republicans on with the quip "so sue me" during a speech in early July.

“They’re mad because I’m doing my job,” Obama said on Wednesday, calling on lawmakers to instead take action on closing tax loopholes and pass new laws he said will spur job creation.

“We can do so much more if Congress would just come on and help out a little bit,” he said. “Just come on. Come on and help out a little bit.”

Separately, some Republicans have suggested Obama could be impeached for exceeding his authority as president, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and others in the conservative wing of the GOP.

Boehner wrote off any talk of impeachment as a Democratic fundraising ploy on Tuesday.

"They're trying to rally their people to give money and to show up in this year's elections," he said.

The White House was quick to cite a list of Republicans who have floated impeaching Obama, saying Boehner's description of the idea as simply a Democratic talking point ignored the statements of some of his members.

"If that's the case, then I suspect that there may be members of the Republican conference that didn't receive the memo," Press Secretary Josh Earnest said.

During his remarks on Wednesday at a historic theater, Obama cast the Republican lawsuit as a distraction from the real work he wants Congress to be doing, including closing a legal loophole that allows big corporations to incorporate overseas to avoid paying U.S. taxes.

Obama cast such tactics as unpatriotic.

“They've always been American companies. They took advantage of all the benefits of being an American company but now their accountant has convinced them maybe they can get out of paying some taxes,” he said.

“It ain't right. Not only is it not right, it ain't right.”

While he was in Missouri Obama met with four people who'd written him letters detailing their struggles and successes in the uncertain economy. The President met the Kansas Citians over ribs and pulled pork at Arthur Bryant's restaurant, which has served the city’s signature barbecue to former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Its vinegar-based sauce is labeled "The President's Choice."

Obama hopes to highlight the issues facing the middle class by scheduling meetings with Americans who have written him. This summer he's shared meals with people in Minnesota, Colorado, Texas and elsewhere.

At Arthur Bryant's on Tuesday, Obama ordered a half slab of ribs and a Bud Light, though when he asked for cole slaw the restaurant's staff told him they had run out.

"You didn't save me some?" he joked.

Yeah that makes sense because you think Obama is a "King". There are three branches to the federal government. The Republicans won't fund one, and they won't pass any bills in the other. That leaves pretty much just the President looking out for Americans. get it?

I love that people criticize Obama for playing a round of golf, but never once said a word when Bush interrupted a question about finding bin Laden with "Now, watch this drive" and continued his golf game rather than address the issue of finding Bin Laden (a task Obama completed).

Actually, even when he's not on the campaign trail he's not in touch. IRS, Bengahzi, Iraq, VA, ACA failure. He's probably the most "out of touch" president ever. Every time something happens, it's a complete surprise to him or they just found out about it. The problem isn't the GOP and it's not Obama. It's the American people drinking the koolaide on a 2 party government.

I don't sign online petitions; but if anyone started a class action suit against the House majority – I WOULD. They're the ones who should be sued – maybe to the tune of $4 billion (about what they cost the country during the shutdown last year). Suit charges could include: Dereliction of duty (they're definitely NOT doing their jobs – but they keep their pay); malfeasence (wasting taxpayer $$ to hold multiple showboat hearings); incompetence; hypocrisy; lying.

If the House votes to sue, wouldn't that cost be a tax upon the American People? How do Republicans plan to pay for or offset that tax? And, wouldn't such a suit require approval by the Senate, too?

What's next for the GOP, throwing a tantrum and holding their breath until Obama resigns?

From the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower, they have devolved into a gaggle of nincompoops and finger-pointers. Fox News and the Sarah Palin Channel are button-pushing at their best, whipping the nonthinking believers into foaming-mouth radicals who actually swallow this nonsense.

Maybe you've heard of the tea Party – it is kind of a big deal with conservatives...
The teaparty website has a impeach-obama-petition page in which they appeal want to "Impeach Obama Petition" and call for people to sign the petition to impeach since the Tea Party supports impeachment.

When Americans are forced to buy health insurance, however, ILLEGALS are allowed to stay in the U.S. and benefit from our medical, education, judicial system, something is wrong. Really, really wrong.

Americans can't get on a plane without an I.D.... but ILLEGALS are allowed to stay in the U.S.

ILLEGALS are already protesting and making demands at the White House, too! Yes. ILLEGALS.
    They're not immigrants, they're criminals.

I told you first . The Liberal Media is hostile to the Conservative cause , and Conservatives are building their own infrastructure to get its message out for the 2014-2016 election cycle . Do not be surprised if the Republican debates and Convention are only on media formats that are friendly to Conservatives , and MS(NBC) , ABC , NBC ,CBS , CNN , will have no access even to broadcast the debates and the convention . No unfriendly media will be allowed to broadcast the Republican convention and debates . Look at all that lost revenue , and lost opportunities for Pro -Paleoliberal Propaganda .

OH! you mean like you, Boehner, are doing with the "lawsuit" in order to rile up your base of ultra-right-wing-conservative-GOP-Tea-Party-"christian"-holier-than-thou-family-values-radical-fanatical-extremists!? I WISH I could say I am still surprised by their hypocrisy but, sadly, I am MORE surprised when they are NOT anymore! SMH

Obama should relax and let them go ahead. The GOP was actually ahead in eyes of many due to the Obama's whitehouse scandals coupled with foreign policy blunders. Even if impeached, like we saw with Clinton it really didn't mean anything except Congress saying bad boy. So what if he's impeached, it will help the Dems in 2016 so he should relax and let the GOP self destruct.

2011: "Shut down the Government. Destroy it. Do not fund any programs. Close the Pentagon".
2013: "What, spend money on illegal immigration? $4 billion? No way, us Republicans wont spend a dime there".
2014: "Sue the President. He gave 50 million Americans health care. Boo. Sue sue sue"

    2016: "Welcome, President Clinton".

SERGIO........ You pick any President to stack up against him for accomplishments, and you'd lose.......in every single category. You are one of the brain washed who probably doesn't read much......are you are a partisan blind fool. You pick any president in the last 100 years who did a single thing better than this one. Especially with the RIGHT obstructing EVERY SINGLE thing he tries to do.....and still, he manage to have the best Stock Market ever, Housing bounce back to normal ( along with saving 9M families from losing their homes) saved the auto industry in the USA, unemployment lower than Bush ever had it, and 16M more people have health insurance now so taxpayers no longer have to pay 100% of their healthcare anymore. He has also done more than any other president for civil and gay rights, he's been the toughest president on the border, and his administration has caught almost every terrorist that use to be on the top 50 list after 9-11. Bush didn't catch a single one. So would you like to explain yourself, or are you just another one of those partisan sheep? BTW.....I voted for Reagan both times and George H the first time......then Perot, then Clinton the 2nd time.......I voted for Hillary to beat him also......I vote for the man, not the party....like we all should. Bush bailed out Wall St, not Obama....and Obama bailed out the Auto Industry.....and it was one of the best things a president ever did.
