House Republicans changing border bill with Cruz-backed measure to appease conservatives

Still struggling to secure the votes to pass their border funding bill, House GOP leaders are discussing a way to add a provision that would bar the President from allowing any more deferments for children of undocumented workers in the U.S. now, according to a senior House GOP aide.

The change to the 2012 Obama administration policy known as "DACA" has been pushed by conservative Sen. Ted Cruz, and a group of House Republicans has also pressed House leaders to add it to their $659 million border measure.

Leaders are working out the mechanics for how the change would be added, but they are expected to allow a separate vote on the provision and then send the language to the Senate.

The White House already issued a veto threat on the House border bill, and Senate Democrats are not expected to take it up. But many rank-and-file Republican worry about going home for the five-week recess without passing something to address the border crisis.

How about enforcing the existing US immigration laws. No border anything would be needed.

Most of the solutions to this nations problems are very simple. Enforce the laws that are on the books, that government officials, including the president, gave their oath to uphold. Problems solved.

They don't help the kids, so be it. Obama will do it himself. No one needs a useless republican congress nagging and fighting, causing trouble, and abusing their power.

It's good that the republican controlled congress has a man of such great wisdom to tell them what they need to do.

You want to stop this invasion and deport the illegals in this country while creating jobs?

Pass a bill authorizing payment of $100. a head to capture illegals and deliver them to deportation facilities. Create new bounty hunter jobs for US citizen. You must have real US birth certificate, driver license and right to carry permit to apply.
    ----------------------------
I shudder at the thought of what carrying that would look like. Self-empowered vigilantes going door to door making citizen arrests of anyone who they feel is here illegally. But, hey, that seems to be the type of draconian law enforcement that conservatives seem to favor. "Take our country back." Is that what it's supposed to mean?

    Thomas
Dose anybody remember when Ted Cruz read us Green Eggs and Ham , while his two little girls watched there daddy on CSPAN from there home in Houston . Then Ted shut down the government and blamed it on the President . And when he was asked if he profited financially , directly or indirectly in any way in regards to the shutdown , he didn't answer .

I believe he has family in the financial market ?

Kinda sounds like a conflict of interest. Perhaps it's time to investigate the Canadian-born Cuban and his Wall Street insider wife.

Any significance that it is labeled 'DACA', meaning give me or to hand over? Given that Cruz is of cuban descent and probably knows spanish, I think it is clearly a political word game that it is called DACA as they try their hardest to take the reigns from democrats.

There should only be one border bill. Return all of them. Nothing more.

Idea - all people that think we should have open borders to all children who want to come here, you can offer 3/4 of your income to put them through school, house them, give interpreters, etc. Oh – what - you dont want to deport them and stick to allowing only legal immigrants to enter anymore? You just wanted everyone else to pay for them?

No more money to Mexico, Central America or any other country until our borders are secure. All illegals deported or "returned" (there is a difference).

I'm not a Conservative but he's appeasing me, too. Americans are sick of the abuse. We already have some of these illegal immigrant teenagers suing us because they didn't like the emergency food and blankets we provided at the temporary shelters.

""So let me be as clear as I can be with Senator Reid: the House of Representatives will not take up the Senate immigration reform bill or accept it back from the Senate in any fashion," Boehner said. "Nor will we accept any attempt to add any other comprehensive immigration reform bill or anything like it, including the DREAM Act, to the House’s targeted legislation, which is meant to fix the actual problems causing the border crisis.""

And yet, now the GOP/Teatrolls in the House are planning to tack on radicalized conservative pandering to the very legislation Boehner just said the House GOP/Teatrolls would never allow to be amended or added to. This is not even remotely good faith or an attempt to find solutions that everyone can get on board with. Rather, realizing his demand for no amendments gave Reid plenty of reason to not allow any amendments to be proposed, Boehner had to capitulate to Cruz, who probably threw a nutty and because his plan to propose this as an amendment just got scuttled, so he demanded that it be taken up by the House. Boehner and the House GOP/Teatrolls are duplicitous liars and this is yet another example of them moving the goal posts to suit their agenda and political needs.

To the obtuse right who clamor for Obama to enforce the existing immigration laws-he is. Apparently, the" pro-sexual abuse of children" seqment of the republican party is angry that Bush actually sought to accomplish at least one decent thing by seeking to stop sex trafficking with his 2008 legislation which gave children the ability to make a case for staying in the states as a refugee. Too bad.

To be fair, Amurikans have a long and troubled history with the blankets we hand out.
