Texas Gov. Rick Perry indicted

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, was indicted on Friday on charges relating to his efforts to try and force a local district attorney to resign.

A Travis County grand jury handed up the charges.

The two counts against Perry, a Republican, stem from his threat to veto funding for a public integrity unit run by the DA, who had been arrested on a drunk driving charge.

Senate candidate Joni Ernst says she was harassed in the military

(CNN) – Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst said Friday she was sexually harassed during her time in the military.

Currently a Republican state senator and lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard, Ernst told various news outlets that she experienced unwanted attention while serving in the Army and, if elected, will work to overhaul how sexual assault cases are handled in the armed forces.

Rick Santorum set to travel to Israel

(CNN) – Rick Santorum is heading to Israel.

The former senator from Pennsylvania and 2012 presidential candidate leaves Sunday for a three-day trip with a delegation of conservative and religious leaders, according to his group, Patriot Voices.

Jeb Bush opposes Florida medical marijuana ballot initiative

(CNN) - Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush announced his opposition Thursday to an overwhelmingly popular proposal that would legalize medical marijuana in his state.

The Republican said "allowing large-scale, marijuana operations to take root across Florida, under the guise of using it for medicinal purposes, runs counter" to the state's efforts to boost tourism and a business-friendly environment.
