Texas Gov. Rick Perry indicted

(CNN) – Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, was indicted on Friday on charges relating to his efforts to try and force a local district attorney to resign.

A Travis County grand jury handed up the charges.

The two counts against Perry, a Republican, stem from his threat to veto funding for a public integrity unit run by the DA, who had been arrested on a drunk driving charge.

Sue the sitting President of the United States for doing his job
    --

ignoring, changing, altering, delaying or creating laws is not the job of the president. congress writes and passes laws that the president swears an oath to uphold and execute.

obama has none neither in many, many cases while altering, changing, ignoring and delaying laws with explicit dates in them. obama truly believes he is a king, not a president. if he is a constitutional scholar, then he is the dumbest one there ever was, or simply doesn't give a damn about the constitution.

@Klutch Cargo: "Well imagine that!,A drunken attorney running a Public Integrity Unit !! Can't get better than that !"

Parry keeps saying he believes in second chances. And yet, when Rosemary Lehmberg paid her dues for her DUI (she plead guilty, paid $4,000, spent 45 days in jail) and had her license suspended for 180 days), Parry used it as an opportunity to retaliate against her because of the role she played in bringing down one of the most rotten scumbags ever to hold office, Tom DeLay.

    Chew on those FACTS, Klutch.

The reason Democrats can get away with these kinds of tactics is we have a spineless media that does not point out the political nature of the attacks. Sarah Palin was forced to resign because bogus ethics complaints were costing Alaska millions, and bankrupting her family. Those were the same complaints she went 26-0-1 in. Where was our media? Chasing after her emails after her political enemies told our them if we could only read her emails we would find the smoking gun.

OH BOO HOO! LIBERAL MEDIA! WHAAA WHAAA!!!!!!!

Im supprized the lady didnt call out the millitarized full auto squads of her police in pockets.! Is that not the reaction of someone who uses the first ammendment today?? Send in the SWAT team for a tail light out traffic stop?? Rubber bullets and tear gas for a flat tire on road?? Very supprized that a actual document was issued in this case with charges.. Seen this stuff before.. It was called the national socialist party.. And the thugs with badges were millitarizing in exact same way.. Millitary weapons in crossing guards hands.. Back then we called them nazis.. What should we call them today on americas streets.??? Since history is obviously repeating itself in every community. America does not have Judge DREDD.. But its getting there very fast. No reason to go to these extreems.. Absolute power corrups absolutly.. Too late.. Big brother is here already.. And they are aiming full auto weapons at your children..

Rick Perry indicted by a grand jury. The evidence, according to the grand jury is that Rick Perry did make a bribe of withholding funding, which he did, to get his way. That, is against the Law., Anywhere !!

this is a political move – the democrats in Texas are mad at Perry for making Obama look like inept , not to say that Obama doesnt do a fine job of that on his own- nothing will come of this, there is nothing

bassman – Poor Palin, there were absolutely NO evidences that she had done (or tried to do) what she was accused of right? No contacts found between the governor' staff and the troopers that could be deemed inappropriate? No evidences that dear Todd Palin was illegaly given power and resources to get Wooten fired?
    Nothing, right?

Rick Perry is a threat to the left – he's more of a Commander-Chief than the president with his actions for border control. The left will stop at nothing to attempt to bring down those that are successful in opposing their agenda. Rick Perry was within his rights – and did nothing illegal.

Why is it that when Republicans get in trouble, it's all a conspiracy, but when Democrats do, it's justice,, according to hypocrite rightwing commenters?

To all those who are saying that he was right and that the DA should have stepped down after being arrested for DUI, you're right, a person should NOT run anithing related to 'public integrity' especially after caught on vídeo doing what she did. So Perry was right to try to do what he did?
    NO.
She violated the laws she should uphold and should pay for it, and Perry don't have any right to 'bend' any law in order to her pay for it. Regardless of HER actions, it's Rick Perry's that matters in this case.

As much as I dislike the smarmy Guvnah Goodhair, I think Lemberg should step down from her post! What person who gets a DWI gets to keep a cushy job? Really, all of Tx politics should be investigated! As far as Perry goes, this is just the opening needed to go after the big fraud, fakery & playing w/taxpayers $$$! He has 15yrs of questionable activities just waiting to come to light!!

  21. Political indictment

This indictment is just more petty politics than substance.
Former DA Rosemary Lehmberg and her cohorts are liberal Democrats seeking political revenge, nothing more.
Watch watch youtube video of the drunken DUI Lehmberg- Does she give you confidence as a District Attorney???

Governor Perry has the power to veto any funding bill that crosses his desk for any reason whatsoever. It's the same power of any governor.

  22. GOP = Greed Over People

What part of "grand jury" do you baggers claiming this a political stunt, NOT understand?

A majority of 16-23 people had to agree there was enough evidence to indict on a felony.

Is the latest Fox fable that all the grand jurors were liberal Dems?

Still waiting on a viable Republican candidate...

So far Hillary is STILL looking good. Whats wrong with the GOP??? They seriously can't get their house in order. Did Obama's victory really screw their heads up that badly? Its been what? 6 years and they're still going crazy.

Perry is guilty. He did in public.
    The facts are irrefutable.

Perry is the epitome of everything that is broken in our entire political system. He has mentioned on several occasions that Texas should succeed from the US. He thought voting age is 21 and believes that the Revolutionary War was fought in the 17th century. I wonder what he thinks happened in 1776. Yet he's running for president of the country that he wants his state to be independent from and unaware of history and laws. He's a perfect example of how government offices are purchased by special interest money.
