Democrat Jim Webb: One show not enough to fully criticize Clinton's record

Washington (CNN) - Democrat Jim Webb needs more than one show if you want him to critique Hillary Clinton's record as secretary of state.

During an appearance on Iowa Public Television’s "Iowa Press" show, Webb – a former senator from Virginia who is considered a dark horse to run for president in 2016 – was asked to critique Clinton's record at the State Department.

Webb said, "I think there’s time to have that discussion later."

"Why not now?" a reporter asked.

"It would probably take up the whole show," Webb retorted. "I think there were good points when Secretary Clinton was secretary of state, particularly what they call the pivot to Asia.”

But, he added, “I think the actions in the Arab Spring were probably detrimental." Webb expressed concerned about the "unilateral decision of (the Obama) administration to use force in Libya."

Webb, who said he hoped to be back in Iowa again soon, was interviewed on Iowa Press for a total of 25 minutes.

"I think we ought to have more Democrats coming out here," Webb said, seemingly encouraging more Democrats to run for president. "We need to stimulate the debate about where the country is."

Clinton, who spent four years as President Barack Obama's top diplomat, is widely considered the front runner for the Democratic nomination and is admittedly thinking about running for president.

Webb is on a two-day trip through Iowa, where he is campaigning for Bruce Braley, the Democrats’ U.S. Senate candidate.

The former secretary of the Navy under President Ronald Reagan has not ruled out running for president. Webb told Diane Rehm on her nationally syndicated NPR show that he and his wife are "just thinking about what to do next."

"I care a lot about where the country is and we’ll be sorting that out," Webb said. "It takes me a while to decide things, and I’m not going to say one way or the other, really."

On Thursday, WHO TV in Iowa asked Webb whether he could beat Clinton if they both decide to run in 2016.

His response: "No comment."

-listen, this country is in much better shape now than ever before. Yes, we need to pass jobs bill. Yes, we need to bring back manufacturing yes, we need to fix airlines because flying is so tiresome, even these airlines are not offering food, drink etc. It never us this way. While other international airlines provide better, Here at home our airlines are terrible. Fix these first. Yes, we need minimum wage raise, voter reform. For this we need Democrat control congress/senate. Fix this first, USA.

@Gurgyl, thank you for the history lesson on the shape of the US. Does your knowledge come from your vast experience here, or from reading Mad Magazine during your many arduous domestic airline travels? Yup, you have so neatly summed up the USA's problems of today: No food or drinks on domestic flights, lack of manufacturing jobs, and a split congress. I would tell you to have a good weekend, but it is obvious that you're already into the joy juice.

Well, it is pretty clear there are a LOT of people in the Democrat Party that want somebody other than Hillary Clinton. She has the stench of the failed Obama administration all over her. And why would the country want Obama V3.0 after 1.0 and 2.0 have been such disasters?

A whole show??? Hillary Clinton didn't do a damn thing in 4 years! Her infamous Russian Reset has been a debacle and she got 4 Americans killed in Benghazi. Other than that her tenure at the State Dept, was a massive 4 year vacation trip around the world wasting jet fuel and hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars.

When elected, Hillary's first plans to reopen our Embassy in Tripoli and reset relations with Russia, though by the time Hillary takes office they could be the Soviet Union again.

Hillary 2016. Because she deserves it.

Can the nation really afford an Obama third term? Some hotshot CNN reporter needs to ask Hillary what her plans are to heal a deeply divided nation. Be prepared for silence. If indeed she came up with an answer, I am convinced it would involve suggesting everybody writing a book with an 8 million dollar advance.....that would solve a host of problems!
