That time Obama wore a tan suit and Twitter freaked out

(CNN) – President Barack Obama on Thursday took some questions in the White House press briefing room about serious subject matters - ISIS, Iraq, Syria, Russia.

But the reaction on Twitter was largely focused on his rarely worn tan suit.

Within seconds of stepping into the room, tweets were already firing off about Obama's pre-Labor Day attire. And by the end of the news conference, a few Twitter handles had been created in honor of the suit.

    No Plan

    @Rudy NYC

You totally missed the point. Liberals read and hear only what they want to align to their ideology.
It's not about signaling our plans. Radical Islam is not limited to a particular set of countries. It is now a world wide epidemic and a cancer on the globe as a whole.

Is America going to have a policy to rid the world of this sick group of radicals where ever they exist?

Or, are you okay with the approach of apologizing to the Muslim world that speaks of having a peaceful religion? They need to be held accountable. Step up or Step aside. No more bs
    ------------------------–
Nope. You totally missed the obvious. You dislike the fact that I had a good point, that announcing that "we're coming after in X-Town in Syria" meets your own right wing standard for "showing your hand."

It sounds like you lean towards the "shoot first, ask questions later" camp. No doubt you feel that conforming to the SOFA treaty that Bush signed, instead of putting our troops at risk by leaving them in Iraq was a mistake. There's no argument under the sun that justifies unlawfully leaving an occupying force in Iraq. End of story. Get over it.

From the beginning of the uprising in Syria, I have always felt that it was more Russia's problem than America's. I also do not feel that it is America's job to be the world's policemen, firemen, swat team, and all-around abjudicator of every conflict on Earth. Yeah, the ISIL terrorists seem like a scary bunch of militants. But, exporting and imposting democracy on everybody is not a policy, it's an ideology.

Not bad, too bad no matter what color the suit is, it is always empty.

I remember the time I had a meeting in SF with a guy who just came fromn from NYC wearing white shoes and a white belt with a seersucker jacket! In SF??? We all had a good laugh over that one.

Obama has been dealing with Iraq for six years. They have been monitoring the rise of militant groups in the Syrian civil war for three years. ISIS (or ISIL) captured the city of Fallujah in Iraq eight months ago. Now he tells us they no plan for going after ISIS in Syria? Even if there is no plan, you should never publicly disclose that information.

Seeing how the Congress has already VOTED AGAINST taking military action in Syria, what other answer was he supposed to give? Hmm. In fact, if he orders military action in Syria, there's no doubt that Republicans will call it an impeachable offense.

Why no buttoned down shirts? Too informal? Doesn't he want to project the image of a working president? I guess not.

There we go again. Blaming Congress for doing nothing. Is this the same Congress that was Democrat controlled from 2006-2010? Do the Democrats ever take responsibility? Oh wait nope I forgot, personal failures are someone elses fault. Why on earth would we hold the "leader" of this country responsible for anything?

Citizens continue to spend all your extra money on a set of rims, gold teeth, expensive designer clothing & tattoos and then complain that you do not have enough money to feed your family? Oh wait that is not the individuals fault, its society's fault and the tax payer should bail you out for it. And the Democrats continue to perpetuate this garbage.

Weak minded Republicans are distracting their weak minded followers on the President's Suit, because they don't have a solution to the problems facing this Country and the World.

I can't express how deeply disappointed I am in the press. The world is crumbling before our eyes and you could run into a real news story with your eyes closed but no, they want to waste time & electrons on the color of our Presidents suit. How about you guys do something serious like find Louis Lerner's emails on the IRS's server, or maybe look into the scam of fining banks and then giving the money to a renamed ACORN. Seriously, do your jobs before it's too late. I don't even think you liberal moon bats are going to like the world he and his cronies are making when it's done.

Considering he's only been in office for 5-1/2 years, he couldn't have been dealing with Syria for 6.

In my OPINION, I think the American People should sue the government for making insider trading legal only for themselves, for making tax credits to big corporations, for making corporations people, for taking bribes from lobbyist, For being able to stash their cash in foreign banks, deregulating laws that only benefit the few, and not representing the majority of people in the United States of America.

@Justin 2 years with a republican president Bush, and 2 year to try to clean up 6 years of terror inflicted by the republican debotchery. What has the congress done in the last 4? I believe we have several branches for checks and balances? You cannot lead a clan of "out for yourselves and bleed the american people dry group."

No let me spell it out for you. He took office January 21, 2009, it is now August 29, 2014, that's 5 years and 7 months. It won't be 6 until January 2015. If you're going to criticize him at least tell the truth.

The president is the commander-in-chief and is therefore obligated to protect and defend the United States. This means formulation of a STRATEGY to defend the country. It is strange how Obama will bypass Congress at every opportunity but when it comes down to making a difficult decision, he suddenly wants Congress to weigh in.

And by the way, if you live in New York City, you might want to take this seriously. NYC is the financial center of the world, one of the largest media centers in the world and also has one of the largest Jewish populations outside of Israel. These three factors together make NYC a tempting target to militant whack-jobs.

I see faux network has taken control of your screens, don't touch that knob, they are going into the twilight zone. The zone of unsubstanciated claims and no facts to back it up. Koch bros and Co. Along with Chinese Smithfield, Oscar Mayer, Kretchmar and the like. Our country is no longer alone, we have the big interest back from over seas. They had one thing in common money and they are not good in bed.
