4 reasons why Rick Perry's exercise of power got him in trouble

(CNN) - She was the one caught driving drunk, but in an odd twist of political fate, he's now the one who has just been indicted on felony charges.

On the face of it, you might think that Rosemary Lehmberg, district attorney for Travis County in Texas, would be out of her job after being caught driving under the influence, haranguing those who took her in, being convicted and serving 20 days in jail.

@Fair: "She was the one caught driving drunk, but in an odd twist of political fate, he's now the one who has just been indicted on felony charges."

That's not bias. That's reporting fact. You might not like those facts, but that does not make for an accusation of bias.

    --

Yes, it is, when that sentence mentions nothing about Lehmberg, pleading guilty to the DUI, paying a $4,000 fine, getting sentenced to 45 days in jail and having her driver's license suspended for 180 days. AND she recused herself from the case and the public integrity unit she leads was NOT involved in picking the special prosecutor.

She committed a crime and paid her dues. PERIOD. For a guy who's always yammering on about "second chances," Parry and his supported sure don't grant any to anyone else ...

The Quitter/Liar/Mooch Palin posted a commentary on Fox that in part said:

"Travis County D.A.'s Office, still under Lehmberg, convened a grand jury, and – surprise, surprise! – Perry was ‘indicted.’"

Out and out lie. But then again, that's Palin for you!

I having been arrested for a DUI is enough to demand someone resign from office – then how do you square that with voting for the alchie GW Bush?

The GOP Poster child for stupid. This man is not fit for the presidency or any other office. They may be rich. but they are dumb as a box of rocks.I see why they depend on the Tea Party voters, because they can pull the wool over their eyes anytime they want as long as they are white. America is going down the tubes if we do not vote in November and let these GOP/TP trolls take over. Where do they find these idiots? You Perry, Paul, Cruz, and more. Such slim pickings from the GOP pool..

The GOP loves wasting tapayers money on foolishness, but does not care one iota about America and especially the middle class. They were talking about how coporate profits are rising and the middle class pay is dwindling as if it was a surprise. I have never seen a bunch of people like the GOP voting against their own interest because they hate President Obama being in the white house. None of this was going own for over a hundred years when the white presidents were doing the same thing and ran America into the ground. Such hypocritical bigots.

Leave it to Palin to find the truth, why do you rwnj keep acting like your not being fed a bunch of lies, the truth is what it is, not what she says it is. She quit the highest office a state has, all for fame and fortune, that's what dictates her truth, what best lines her pockets, she's a slimeball.

The typically pathetic thing about all this is how the gop will use Parry's indictment as a fundraising tool to extract more money from their foolish base.

All in an effort to keep that base stirred up and frothing to go to the polls to vote for ... Jeb (who was picked a LONG time ago but hasn't been trotted out yet).

2008 Mittens rerun all over again.

And just like in 2008, the gop will go down in flames and they will spend the following four years moaning about how "persecuted" they are, and how the election was "stolen" and all the other nonsense those folks do instead of HELPING OUR COUNTRY.

just more of the same targeting of political opponents by the leftist democrats, using whatever they can use, including government agencies like the irs, fbi, atf, dea, osha and now the courts. look all around the country for many examples of these out of control leftists. you're either for them, or you're a target to be attacked and destroyed using the powers of government. the means justifies the ends.

Actually, it's more of the same historical re-writes and willful ignorance of the facts. Lehmberg recused herself, and a judge selected by George W. Bush took her place. He selected a Republican prosecutor, who eventually filed the charges against Gov. Perry. But, Republicans have to keep hope and delusion alive in order to justify themselves.

  17. Say WHAT???

We've already seen this corrupt Democrat movie. They did it with Delay. Bring up bogus charges, smear the guy, drag him through years of court proceedings, cost him millions in lawyer fees, wreck his political career, only for him to be acquitted. But a conviction wasn't what the movie was all about, now was it? It was about taking somebody out at the knees. No different than what the Democrats at the IRS did to the TEA Party in two election cycles with their targeting.

Independent studies showed 97% of the worlds leading scientists believe in it,
    -
'believe' in climate change? yes, that makes it a religion. welcome to the religious zealotry of the left, masquerading as science.
    -

And don't forget it was originally called "Global Warming", until the fraud science was revealed. All those 97% BELIEVERS believed in a fraud and they were pushing the fraud on the rest of the world because after all, how can 97% possibly be wrong?!

So now, in true liberal/leftist/change-your-name-to-hide-the-truth fashion, global warming has become climate change! Because who can argue against THAT fact, that the weather is constantly changing! All to justify there global anti-fossil fuel war. The left will use any mechanism it can to spread their lies and deceit.

  21. Honestly

Indeed, legal analysts, including CNN's Jeffrey Toobin, a former federal prosecutor, question the indictment. "The governor has the power to veto this money," Toobin said. "So, the question is, how can it be a crime to threaten to use a power that is entirely within the powers of your office?"

Yeah! Kinda' like when the guy with the AK-47 slung over his shoulder arrived at the Obama event the police checked his concealed carry permit, found it good, and allowed him to walk around with his weapon at the event, but when the young couple showed up the bush event with 'Buck Fush' t-shirts on they were promptly arrested. Like that?

Or, like when the Federal agents showed up at the bundy house to serve the arrest warrant on the welfare cheat, they were met by armed teabaggers (using women and children for shields like the craven cowards they are) who pointed their weapons at the Federal Agents. Yeah, they massacred them didn't they- no, they used common sense and stood down to avoid a violent confrontation (unlike peaceful unarmed protesters in Ferguson who got gassed by local 'small' government goons in attempt to get them to riot so they could change the narrative of the story from 'an unarmed teen with his hands up gets shot by cop' to 'violent riots and looting by out of control darkies).

Do you even live in America (or reality)?
