Romney, Ryan to campaign together Sunday

(CNN) - Mitt Romney and Rep. Paul Ryan, the Republican presidential candidate's newly minted running mate, will continue campaigning together on Sunday, including at least one stop in Ryan's home state, Romney's campaign said Saturday.

Romney's vice presidential candidate roll-out began Saturday morning in Virginia, when Romney and Ryan appeared side-by-side onstage in Norfolk, Virginia. The pair made additional joint appearances on Saturday, and Romney's bus tour is to continue over the next several days in North Carolina, Ohio, and Florida as CNN reported early last week.

Obama campaign defines Romney/Ryan as 'The Go Back Team'

(CNN) – The Obama campaign released a web video following Mitt Romney's announcement of his running mate in Virginia Saturday morning seeking to define the newly formed pair as toxic for the middle class.

The video highlights presumptive Republican presidential nominee and his running mate pick, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, architect of the House's Republican budget proposal and chairman of its Budget Committee, as a ticket supporting a drastic budget plan which includes deep cuts to entitlement programs that would affect middle income Americans.

Ashland, Virginia (CNN) – The pomp and circumstance of their inaugural appearance over, Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan moved swiftly to attack President Obama at their second event as running mates Saturday.

Calling Ryan a man "who appeals to the better angels of the American people," Romney said the pair would run a different campaign than Obama, the incumbent.

(CNN) - When Mitt Romney sat down for an interview with CNN Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger last Saturday in Evansville, Indiana he wasn't giving anything up.

Pawlenty calls Ryan 'terrific selection'

Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN) - A gracious former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, one of the select few who had been on Mitt Romney's vice presidential short list, said Saturday that Paul Ryan's selection as the candidate's running mate makes for a "great team."

"I think Governor Romney's selection of Paul Ryan is a terrific selection," Pawlenty told reporters. "Paul Ryan is a bold leader with great ideas for trying to get this country back on track, and I think he and Governor Romney together will make a great team."

Analysis: A bold but risky choice for running mate

Washington (CNN) - Just a few minutes after 7 a.m. on Saturday, Mitt Romney took a step many political experts did not think he would - choosing a controversial and bold running mate and making one of the most important announcements of his campaign at a time many did not expect.

Rep. Paul Ryan admits that he is the poster child for controversial proposals to reform the nation's entitlement programs: For workers now under the age of 55, seniors would be given the option of choosing a private program instead of the traditional Medicare program and would receive money to offset the premium they have to pay. Federal spending for Medicaid would be sent to the states to manage, and the Social Security retirement age would gradually be raised to 70.

Largest tea party PAC lauds Ryan selection

(CNN) – The nation's largest tea party political action committee swiftly praised Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate on Saturday. The Tea Party Express said the House Budget chairman is a favorite among activists - despite Ryan's past support for two federal measures that, arguably, inflame the most anger among tea partiers.

"Ryan is a strong fiscal conservative, and he has used his Chairmanship of the House Budget Committee to address the serious financial woes facing the country," Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer said of the House Budget chairman in a statement.
