(CNN) - Anthony Weiner's campaign for New York City mayor released its first television commercial Monday, though the spot didn't allude to the lewd messaging scandal that rocked his campaign and preceded a drop in the polls.
The spot instead focuses on Weiner's plans for the city, and features the candidate speaking directly to voters.

(CNN) – Stopping on the campaign trail for a sidewalk interview, a clearly agitated Anthony Weiner mocked a British reporter Thursday and laughed as she asked him questions.
"It's hard to take you seriously," he said after being asked whether he was pursuing his New York City mayoral bid out of "ambition" or "hunger for the job." He then appears to repeat her question in a British accent.
(CNN) - Anthony Weiner, who once led the field of Democratic candidates for New York City mayor before the reemergence of a "sexting" scandal rocked his campaign, is currently in fourth place, a poll released Thursday showed.
The New York Times/Siena poll was the second survey showing the former congressman running behind three Democratic other hopefuls in the Big Apple. A Quinnipiac University poll released at the end of July also indicated Weiner had fallen in the aftermath of scandal.
(CNN) – Sydney Leathers, the 23-year-old paralegal from Indiana who came forward about her ex-online relationship with Anthony Weiner, said in an interview published Thursday that she backs City Council Speaker Christie Quinn for mayor, not her former sexting partner.
"Obviously she doesn't have the impulse control problems that Anthony has," Leathers said in the interview with Complex, a men's lifestyle magazine.
Last month, Anthony Weiner admitted that he had sent explicit text messages after his resignation from Congress in 2011.
He maintained in a recent news conference that his racy online behavior ended last summer, but Sydney Leathers, a 23-year-old Indiana native, says "Carlos Danger," the New York City mayoral candidate's online screen name, sexted her as recently as April 12.
(CNN) – New York City mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner sought to downplay an altercation he had Tuesday with a campaign rival that ended with the former congressman taking a swipe at his opponent's age.
In a sharp exchange with Republican George McDonald at a town hall forum hosted by AARP, Weiner called the founder of the nonprofit Doe Fund "grandpa."
(CNN) – A swirl of campaign distractions related to the lewd messages and photos he sent to a woman online hasn't stopped Anthony Weiner from churning out more proposals for changing New York City.
In an addendum to his "Keys to the City" platform document, Weiner lists dozens of ways he'd change the way city government works, from altering parking regulations to changing New York's municipal tax code.
(CNN) - Former President Bill Clinton said he and his wife, Hillary Clinton, have many "personal friends" in the New York City mayoral race and added that he shouldn't talk about the contest.
His comments came in an interview with CNN in Kigali, Rwanda, where Clinton is on a six-stop trip in the continent with his daughter for their work with The Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
(CNN) – It may be the first fundraising pitch in political history to include the words, "I did lie to my wife."
But Anthony Weiner's latest bid to rally support for his New York City mayoral campaign makes the case the candidate is ready to take tough questions head on – a quality he argues is necessary to helm the nation's largest metropolis.
(CNN) – Anthony Weiner was asked Thursday about why he chose the Hispanic pseudonym "Carlos Danger" which he used for sexting even after his 2011 resignation from Congress.
The contender for New York City's Democratic mayoral ballot took one more question about this Twitter handle Thursday morning from Univision during an interview; this time asked: "Why did you pick an Hispanic name and how dangerous were you really?"
