(CNN) - In a draft speech prepared for President Bill Clinton’s appearance at the 1997 Alfalfa Club dinner, a speechwriter’s joke went too far for someone in the White House.
“Socks has been a [sic] exemplary first pet; I don’t want to disparage Millie but some have described her as – well it starts with ‘B’ and rhymes with ‘witch’,” read the joke.

(CNN) - Barbara Bush made national headlines last year when she said on NBC that her son Jeb shouldn't run for president in 2016 because "there are a lot of great families. It's not just four families, or whatever. There are other people out there that are very qualified. We've had enough Bushes."
And in an interview earlier this year on C-SPAN, the former first lady added that "I think this is a great American country, and if we can't find more than two or three families to run for high office, that's silly."

Washington (CNN) – Former President George H.W. Bush tweeted a thank you on Thursday to Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton for extending well wishes to his hospitalized wife, Barbara Bush.
The former first lady was admitted to Methodist Hospital for “respiratory-related issues” on Monday, according to family spokesman Jim McGrath. As of Wednesday, Barbara Bush was still hospitalized and McGrath said there had been no change in her condition since she was admitted.

(CNN) – Former first lady Barbara Bush has been hospitalized in Houston, Texas, for treatment of a "respiratory-related issue," a family spokesman said Tuesday.
Bush, 88, was admitted Monday at Methodist Hospital, spokesman Jim McGrath said in a written statement.
