Jindal staying in Louisiana for now

(CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is staying in his home state for now as Tropical Storm Isaac heads towards New Orleans.

The two-term governor was to arrive in Tampa on Tuesday to address the delegates of Republican National Convention that evening. Instead of preparing for his high-profile speech, he declared a state of emergency Sunday and asked for voluntary evacuations in 15 low-lying parishes on or near the Gulf Coast.

Convention planners breathe a little easier as Isaac shifts away from Tampa

(CNN) – One day after officials decided to postpone the Republican National Convention, concerns about the impact of Tropical Storm Isaac on Tampa, Florida seemed to lighten as the storm indicated its impending track would shift west of the convention site.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus announced Saturday the convention would officially convene Monday but speeches and other events would not begin until Tuesday afternoon.

Jindal unsure about convention attendance - again

Tampa, Florida (CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal may miss attending and speaking at the Republican National Convention for the second time in a row.

With Tropical Storm Isaac picking up strength as it heads toward the Gulf Coast, including his home state, Jindal's convention speech is in jeopardy – as it was four years ago, when Hurricane Gustav slammed into New Orleans.

With Romney away, possible VP picks defend home turf

Romney gets help at home while following water's edge tradition

The Romney campaign is sending high profile surrogates Thursday to three battleground states to act on his behalf.
