Heckler: Obama's response a disappointment

San Francisco (CNN) - Ju Hong didn't come to President Barack Obama's event here Monday to heckle the commander-in-chief. But as Obama closed out his remarks calling for new immigration reform bills in Congress, Hong - an undocumented student from South Korea - could keep quiet no longer.

"I need your help here," he cried out from his place on the stage behind Obama, an area where protests rarely originate. "There are thousands of families separated. Every single day."

As Obama makes turn to immigration, protests that he's not doing enough

San Francisco (CNN) - Seeking to move his domestic agenda away from the disappointments of health care reform, President Obama made another pitch for an immigration overhaul Monday, calling on lawmakers to restart an effort that stalled over the summer.

But even as he made his pitch at a recreation center serving mainly Chinese-Americans in San Francisco, Obama was loudly interrupted by a group who says the President's not doing enough to end deportations of undocumented immigrants.

Nervous Dems get cash boost–and pep talk–from Obama

Updated 10:34 a.m. ET, 11/25/2013

Seattle (CNN) – Congressional Democrats, many downright scared of the political fallout from the botched rollout of Obamacare, are getting a boost this week as the President completes a month-long fundraising sprint a year ahead of 2014's midterm elections.

Obama–who has jetted to New York, Boston, Miami, Dallas and Philadelphia in the past several weeks to help add millions of dollars to Democrats' campaign coffers–is spending three days on the West Coast convincing donors his falling popularity and the faulty implementation of his signature legislation don't mean all is lost for the Democratic Party next year.

San Diego Mayor Bob Filner resigns - but says he faced 'hysteria of a lynch mob'

(CNN) - San Diego Mayor Bob Filner will resign, a city official announced Friday, an action that Filner had long resisted despite being under intense public pressure to do amid a torrent of sexual harassment claims.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith announced around 3:45 p.m. (6:45 p.m. ET) that the City Council, during a closed-door session, had accepted the terms of an agreement with Filner that was reached after three days of mediation talks.

Updated at 7:01 p.m. ET on 8/23

Washington (CNN) - National Democrats voted unanimously Friday to approve a resolution urging San Diego Mayor Bob Filner to resign, hours before the embattled lawmaker announced he was stepping down from his office under a crush of sexual harassment allegations.

Meeting in Arizona for its summer meeting, the Democratic National Committee addressed the resolution in an afternoon session. The resolution, a draft copy of which was obtained by CNN, called on their fellow Democrat to "face the consequences of his actions, sparing his constituents the embarrassment and expense of a recall election."
