(CNN) - Arizona Sen. John McCain weighed in on the stalemate in Congress Thursday, telling CNN's "American Morning" anchor Ali Velshi that Republicans are losing the battle over the payroll tax cut extension.
Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Prominent Iowa faith leader Bob Vander Plaats asked Michele Bachmann to dramatically alter her White House plans, according to the Bachmann campaign, including the possibility of dropping her presidential bid altogether.
"[Bob] Vander Plaats called us on Saturday and asked us to consider the possibility of merging with another candidate," Bachmann spokeswoman Alice Stewart told CNN. "He did not say whether we should be president or vice presidential candidate."

(CNN) – Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney nabbed the backing of the Des Moines Register, a decision the editor of the largest Iowa paper attributed Monday to "maturity" and experience.
"Gov. Romney focused on the most important issues," Rick Green told CNN's "American Morning" anchor Ali Velshi. And although the board did not select Romney when he ran four years ago, this cycle, he stood out for his "focus."

(CNN) – Political 'troublemaker' Christine O'Donnell revealed she will back former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president Tuesday and touted his "executive experience and consistency" in an interview Wednesday morning, where she also took aim at Romney's rival for the GOP nomination.
O'Donnell told CNN "American Morning" anchor Carol Costello that she'd "thought a lot" about her decision and hoped her endorsement will cause others to give Romney a "second look."

(CNN) – Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz singled out former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Wednesday as having “really disturbing views” following his performance in CNN's national security debate Tuesday night.
"Mitt Romney did his level best to continue to pull the field of Republican candidates as far to the right and the extreme right as possible," Schultz said in an interview on CNN's "American Morning."

(CNN) – Jon Huntsman doesn't know where the money for a $650,000 ad buy supporting his presidential run came from, and he doesn't care.
In an interview Wednesday on CNN's "American Morning," the former Utah governor said he doesn't know whether his father contributed to the super PAC that funded a Thanksgiving-run ad campaign, but he's "just delighted" to receive support in the first place.

(CNN) – Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann is banking on another victory in Iowa, and this one will be an upset.
In a Tuesday interview on CNN's "American Morning," Bachmann said 70% of voters are still undecided about who they'll support for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination and the "flux" of the race could be a boon for her.

(CNN) - While Ron Paul said attacking other candidates is his "least favorite thing to do," he didn't pull any punches Tuesday when talking about fellow GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain's '9-9-9' tax proposal.
"I don't think it's a good plan," the Texas congressman said on CNN's "American Morning." "I think it's a dangerous plan."
