(CNN) - Newark Mayor Cory Booker holds a double-digit lead over Republican candidate Steve Lonegan on the eve of a special U.S. Senate election in New Jersey, according to the latest polls.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Tuesday morning indicates Booker, the Democratic nominee, is ahead of Lonegan 54%-40% among likely voters in the Garden State, with 5% unsure. Booker's 14-point lead over Lonegan is virtually unchanged from Quinnipiac's previous poll, which was released last week.

(CNN) - The gap between Democratic nominee Cory Booker and Republican nominee Steve Lonegan is shrinking, but Booker still holds onto the lead in the New Jersey special Senate race, according to a poll released Monday, two days before Election Day.
The new Monmouth University survey indicates 52% of likely voters back Booker, while 42% support Lonegan, and four percent undecided.

(CNN) - New Jersey Senate hopeful Cory Booker's father has died, his campaign said Thursday.
Cary Booker, 76, had recently suffered a stroke. He died in Las Vegas, the Booker campaign said in a statement. Booker's remaining campaign events were canceled for the day.

Washington (CNN) - New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is spending $1 million to run a TV ad to boost Newark Mayor Cory Booker in his candidacy for the U.S. Senate.
Booker is running in the Oct. 16 special election against Republican Steve Lonegan to fill the remainder of the term of longtime Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who died earlier this year.
(CNN) – Cory Booker may have taken his diminished lead in the latest polls to heart, starting out on the offensive against Steve Lonegan in the first debate for New Jersey's Senate seat and never letting up.
Lonegan, who trails Booker by 12% and 13% in the most recent polls, returned the favor, blasting Booker's record as mayor of Newark while Booker in turn repeatedly painted Lonegan as a "tea party extremist."
