(CNN) – One day after a national Republican campaign group pulled out of the South Carolina special congressional race, the group's Democratic counterpart announced it's stepping in.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says it will begin running an attack ad Friday against Republican candidate Mark Sanford, the former governor of the state who's attempting a political comeback after his career was derailed following his now-famous extramarital affair with a woman in Argentina.
(CNN) - President Barack Obama's fundraising swing through the Bay Area Wednesday netted $3.25 million for the group tasked with electing Democrats to the House.
The event was Obama's first fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee this year, and the first of the 2014 election cycle.
The DCCC currently has $7.6 million cash on hand.

(CNN) – Thought the battles over budgets were over?
They’re not, at least in the political sense.
(CNN) – Not wasting a minute, Democratic campaign groups in Congress are bringing Rep. Paul Ryan's budget plan–which he's set to release Tuesday–into the line of fire, attempting to make it a wedge issue in the 2014 midterm elections.
But Republicans are hitting back, attacking Democrats for their lack of a balanced budget one day before Senate Budget Chairwoman Patty Murray is expected to make public the Senate's budget plan.
(CNN) - They've set their eyes on winning back control of the U.S. House next year, and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says it started off this year by bringing in cash and reducing debt.
The committee raised $6.1 million in January, a DCCC aide told CNN. That means they have $4.6 million in the bank, but $12.6 million in outstanding debt.
Washington (CNN) - The Democratic and Republican committees tasked with electing candidates to the House of Representatives are closing the book on the 2012 election cycle, with Democrats saying they brought in $184 million and Republicans raising $144 million.
The Democrats' figure was roughly $20 million more than they took in during the 2010 cycle, which saw them lose control of the House. In 2012, Democrats gained eight seats in the lower chamber, not enough to regain the majority.
Washington (CNN) – As it tries again in 2014 to win back control of the House of Representatives, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee says it's got its eyes on 48 Republican-held seats.
"We need 17 seats to pick up the House. So we begin with an early universe of 30 districts where the incumbent got less than 10% and an additional 18 districts that we think can perform better in an off year than an on year," DCCC Chairman Steve Israel told reporters Thursday.
(CNN) – Republicans in the House who have refused to sign on to a petition allowing a vote on extending Bush-era tax cuts are being targeted in radio and web advertisements by Democrats, who want to extend the cuts only on households making less than $250,000 per year.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Wednesday they would air the ads against 21 House Republicans who have refused to sign the discharge petition advanced by Democrats. The Bush-era cuts expire at the end of the year.
(CNN) - Democrats pounced Wednesday on news from earlier this week about a Department of Justice investigation involving Republican Rep. Michael Grimm of Staten Island and possible campaign finance violations.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the group tasked with helping Democrats get elected to the House, described the allegations against Grimm, a former undercover FBI agent, as "the latest blow" to House Republicans.
(CNN) – The key committee dedicated to electing Democrats to the U.S. House announced on Thursday several promotions as it builds a team for the 2014 congressional elections.
The group's political director, Kelly Ward, will take Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's top staff spot as Executive Director. The current communications director, Jesse Ferguson, and finance director, Missy Kurek, will become deputy executive directors.
