
(CNN) - President Barack Obama told donors at a trio of fundraisers Monday evening that the U.S. can learn lessons from the resilience of Boston in the marathon bombing and the town of West, Texas, in the deadly explosion at a fertilizer plant. Altogether, the fundraisers netted more than $3 million for national Democratic groups.
He raised more than $2 million for the Democratic National Committee and at least $1 million for the main Democratic groups that campaign for House and Senate candidates. The fundraising totals are calculations based on the number of attendees and the lowest ticket price, which started at $16,200 for the DNC events and $7,500 for the other events, according to officials with the organizations. They said some tickets cost as much as $32,400 a person.

(CNN) - The Republican National Committee outraised the Democratic National Committee in September, documents filed with the Federal Election Commission on Friday showed.
The RNC brought in $48.4 million in the month, while the DNC raised $20.2 million.

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) - Vice President Joe Biden led an effort on Monday to sharpen the message of Democrats on the eve of their party convention after other senior members struggled to formulate a definitive answer to the question of whether voters should feel better off since President Barack Obama took office.
Biden told a Labor Day campaign rally in Detroit that the country was indeed doing better than when Republicans led by George W. Bush left power in 2009.

(CNN) - Despite Mitt Romney's commanding win in New Hampshire's primary on Tuesday, national Democrats argued the Republican presidential frontrunner's 40% finish–with 95 precincts reporting–was less than a victory.

Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN) - Mitt Romney became the latest target of a fast-paced political sound-bite culture Monday, when a remark he made was widely mocked by his rivals in campaign speeches and on the internet.
In a speech to the Nashua Chamber of Commerce, Romney said he wanted Americans to be able to switch insurance companies if they were unhappy with their service.

(CNN) – Democratic Texas Congressmen Silvestre Reyes and Charlie Gonzalez decried GOP contender Mitt Romney's stance on immigration Wednesday.
In a conference call with reporters, Gonzalez charged the former Massachusetts governor who's seeking the 2012 GOP presidential nomination for the second time with trying to "out pander his competition."
